PUBLIC SPEAKING

Mechanics:

1. Each college should have one (1) entry for this event. However, with the majority’s
approval the colleges belonging in Cluster 2 and 4 have the chance to submit a
maximum of 3 entries. 

2. The speech should be delivered in English.

3. The participants during the elimination round are given a minute of preparation time
and three minutes to deliver his/her speech of his drawn topic.

4. The finalists for the final round are given a minute of preparation time and five
minutes to deliver his/her speech of his/her drawn topic.

5. Speakers who read their notes or texts while speaking will have their marks
deducted.

6. Sensitive issues such as religion, race, gender, culture and among others are
prohibited.

7. The use of improper, non-standard variety of language, and impolite language is


prohibited.

8. The participants should open their cameras during the competition and mute their
microphones if not being called.

9. The Event Manager/s have the absolute discretion to adopt supplemental rules and
guidelines for the game as it deems appropriate and decide on any issues which may
not be expressly addressed in these specific guidelines. The decision is FINAL.

10. The criteria for judging are as follows:

Appropriate gestures and eye contact 20%

Voice: projection and volume, fluency, and control. 15%

Use of language 15%
