STANDARD

It is the standard operating procedure to provide excellent service and hospitality to our guests with
professional manners at all times; these guidelines of Maintaining a Professional Appearance are to be followed
accordingly.

PROCEDURE

This work instruction applies to Engineering Department.

4. The Maintaining a Professional Appearance practice for Engineering.


a) All staffs are personally responsible for being consistently well groomed, wearing clean and proper
uniform and the correct name tag as to give a good impression to the guest.
- A clean and pressed uniform must be worn while on duty. Inform House Keeper if there are
defects or stains on uniforms.
- Shoes must be clean, closed and polished and not in a state of disrepair, and must be worn
while on duty.
- Hair must be kept clean, neat and appropriately styled: away from the face and free from the
collar, any hair accessories must be in black color.
- Excess jewelry is not to be worn; only one ring, one pair of earrings and a small necklace are
allowed. Make up must be flattering but not overdone.
- Correct name tag is to be worn on designated location on uniform while on duty.
b) All staff must be in full uniform, have a professional appearance and be always in their assigned
location, ready to help the guest’s End of Shift Duty.
- Hands and fingernails should be kept clean, well looked after and preferably short. No nail polish
allowed.
- Smile and maintain eye contact to create friendly and welcoming atmosphere to both guests
and other staff.
- Good body language is to be displayed at all times. Hands should never be in the pockets. While
a public area and not serving guests employees should be standing at ease - straight - backed,
feet slightly apart, hands behind the back.
- Be alerting, attentive and responsive to guests approaching your area. Make eye contact with
guests, smile and extend an appropriate hospitality greeting, addressing the guest by name if
known.
- Be helpful, anticipate guest needs and assist wherever possible.
c) To ensure that machinery is kept clean at all times, this will ensure that equipment will not
breakdown due to dirty machinery, oil leaks etc. can be detected easily and quickly and plant rooms
are safe from fire hazard.
- All Engineering staff is required to keep machinery clean and tidy. All staff is to ensure that
whenever they work on any machinery it is cleaned after work has been performed. During the
normal maintenance, all staff is to ensure that equipment is clean and debris removes to proper
bins. Always remove any dust etc. with a damp cloth, refer manual if lint free is required. Always
clean any excess grease or oil for any ports with a rag (do not use face towels) Always ensure
that equipment is kept free from any dust or lint by vacuum cleaning or wiping out underneath.
When cleaning rotating machinery ensure all guards are in place and protective clothing used.

5. The DON’Ts practice for Engineering


a) Don’t wearing dirty uniform go to the room.
b) Do not insult any guests.
c) Do not argue with guests, stay calm and refer issues or cases to Maintenance Manager/ Maintenance
supervisor.
d) Don’t use friends name when go to the guest room.
