Communication

 means of sending or receiving information, such as phone lines or computers.

 simply the act of transferring information from one place, person or group to another. Every
communication involves (at least) one sender, a message and a recipient.

Models of Communication

 Conceptual models used to explain the human communication process. Following the basic concept,
communication is the process of sending and receiving messages or transferring information from one
part (sender) to another (receiver).

6 Models of Communication

1. Linear Model of Communication

It envisages a one-way process in which one party is the sender, encoding and
transmitting the message, and another party is the recipient, receiving and decoding the
information. It is also an equation that describes a relationship between two quantities that
show a constant rate of change.

2. Interactive Model of Communication

It describes communication as a two-way process in which participants alternate
positions as sender and receiver and generate meaning by sending and receiving feedback
within physical and psychological contexts.

3. Transactional Model of Communication

It describes communication as a process in which communicators generate social
realities within social, relational, and cultural contexts. In this model, nurses don’t just
communicate to exchange messages.

4. Schramm Model of Communication

It includes Encoder or Sender, Decoder or Receiver, Interpreter, and message. This
model states that communication is a two-way highway, which means that information passes
between the sender and receiver.

5. Berlo’s Model of Communication

Is an outlined into six stages: the communications source, the encoding of the message,
the message, the delivery method of the message, the decoding of the message, and the
message receiver.
6. Aritotle Model of Communication
It is revolves around the speaker as the main concept of this theory is that, speaker
plays the most important role in communication and it is the only one who holds the
responsibility to influence his/her audience through public speaking.

Give a scenario that uses one (1) of the six (6) communication models that you have read.

 Interactive Model of Communication

Example of the interactive model will be the computer-human interaction. In this circular model
of interaction, the senders are being interchanged every time a message is passed. Primary
examples of the computer-human scenario are social media platform, chat rooms, online shopping.
