What I have learn in this weekly topic?

 
I have learned that swimming is the propulsion of the body through water by combined arm and
leg motions and the natural flotation of the body. It is the act or the art of floating or moving in
the water progressively using the hands and feet. Aside from tackling the history of swimming,
we also discuss several swimming strokes such as the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke,
freestyle, and so on in this weekly topic. And lastly, I have learned the different health benefits
does swimming provides to our body.

Why is this lesson relevant on my field of study?


As a BSMT student, it is important that I learn the basics of swimming since it is a crucial skill for
my future career as a seafarer. The knowledge that we may gain from this is not just about the
health benefits that swimming can give us, but also about how to protect ourselves from water-
related incidents. Aside from the health benefits and survival skills that we could learn from this
topic, it could also serve as our recreational activities from our busy schedules at school which
could develop our personal relationships.

How do I apply it on my time as future professional?


The swimming skills that I may learn from this topic were very crucial for me as a future
seafarer. Knowing the harsh environment in the open seas makes the lives of mariners at risk.
That is why it is required for me as a future seafarer to know how to swim to avoid casualties
like drowning, having an injury, or worse, death if an accident occurs. Aside from saving myself,
I could also be able to save other lives because of the skills that I obtained.
What I have learn in this weekly topic? 
In this week's topic, I studied the history of swimming and how it has changed over time.
Swimming, according to what I learned, is an ancient activity that has existed since humans
have invaded the planet. Some prehistoric drawings from the southern area of Egypt have been
discovered, proving that people in ancient times had a concept of swimming. Aside from that,
we discuss how the concept of swimming evolved to be associated with sports and the
Olympics. And finally, we discover several swimming strokes and styles, such as the butterfly,
backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.

Why is this lesson relevant on my field of study?


Studying this type of lesson is relevant to my field of study since it teaches us different
swimming styles and strokes, which is a necessary skill in my field of profession in the future. It
also encourages us to be physically active in our daily lives, ensuring that our bodies are fit and
healthy to tackle the challenges we will experience on our journey. Since the BSMT program is
such a physically demanding curriculum, we must maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, which
swimming may help us do.

How do I apply it on my time as future professional?


The learnings that we gain from this topic have a huge role in my future job. As an
aspiring seafarer, it is important for me to learn different swimming strokes and styles to
ensure my safety. Knowing the harsh environment in different seas and oceans, I cannot
guarantee my safety that's why it is important for us to learn this knowledge. Having a skill in
swimming could save us from any possible accident/ emergency related to water at my
workplace.
What I have learn in this weekly topic? 
This week's topic discusses different types of swimwear and swimming pool etiquette,
both of which can be beneficial especially for me as a swimming beginner. Swimwear such as
swimsuits swim caps, goggles, swim fins, drag suits, and hand paddles are discussed from
this lesson for their various characteristics and benefits. Aside from that, we learned about
several swimming ethics that we might apply to our daily swimming routines.

Why is this lesson relevant on my field of study?


This type of lesson is important for our field of study since it could help us towards our
swimming class here at Mariners. BSMT course requires swimming class every school year,
that's why it is important for us to learn the proper ethics and attire in swimming to avoid
further accidents related to water. This knowledge that we gain from this topic will also assist
us in maintaining our safety and comfort when performing swimming routines at school.

How do I apply it on my time as future professional?


I think the knowledge that I learn from this topic could be applied to my time as a future
professional in terms of discipline. In this particular topic, we develop our sense of discipline
since were following proper ethics in swimming. Swimming ethics tend us to follow certain
rules which could measure and develop our skills towards discipline. And towards our job,
especially for me as a future seafarer, discipline is one of the most important virtue that we
must have. Discipline is very important in a maritime job that's why this topic is very essential
for us.
