¨Everywhere I'm looking now, I´m surrounded by your embrace, baby I can see your

halo, you know your my saving grace.¨ This is a quote from the song, ¨Halo¨ by Beyonce. The

meaning of this quote is having someone come into your life after you have had a rough past,

and change it completely. In addition, this song also portrays treating you the way you are

supposed to be treated. I will be reviewing the songs ¨Halo¨ by Beyonce 2009 and ¨Halo¨ by

Peter Katz 2016. The music video by Beyonce is showing a man coming into her life and being

the man that she needed by her side. The video by Peter Katz is more sentimental and

passionate as it does not show clips like a music video as it is just him and his guitar. The

overall message of the music videos is about love and unity.

The song ¨Halo¨ by Beyonce is about a woman who was broken-hearted by a man she

loved. She swore never to fall in love again, but when true love came along, she broke all her

rules to fall in love. Peter Katz made a personal connection with this song, as it stated in an

article, ¨The music that was getting me through my challenges was not insular singer/songwriter

stuff,¨ confesses Katz. I mean, I love that sort of music. But I loved the idea, and it was

refreshing conceptually that this time the music would be for other people.¨ He made his cover

very personal and he put a lot of emotion into it.

One of the many meanings of this song is that Beyonce wrote the song as she is

referencing her husband Jay-Z. Within the context of the song, he had a profound, positive

effect on her life. In the song, it states, ¨You´re everything I need and more, it's written over your

face, baby I can see your halo, pray it won't fade away.¨ The interpretation of this lyric is saying

that I love you and I can not live without you. The significance of this is shown that when a

woman loves someone, she needs that love and unity in return. Since Peter Katz was one of the

only men to do a cover on this song, his viewpoint might be a little different. With this in mind, he

wanted to show the more emotional side of this song. Coming from the other point of view, a

man's perspective. Another meaning of this song is having someone in your life that can be

there for you when you need it the most. It states this man is her saving grace and she is

referring to him as her angel. She is able to feel his presence by his halo and she is hoping that

he is not too good to be true. He has allowed her to break free from her own insecurities.

The song, ¨Halo¨ by Beyonce and the cover done by Peter Katz definitely have pathos in

it. The words in the song show the emotion it can have on someone that has been going

through something similar. This song refers to a woman that was scorned by love. She built up

walls to protect her heart from being hurt again. Then a man came along and showed her what

her strengths were. He also showed her respect which is something she has most likely never

seen before. He had faith in her as a person and she fell in love. She took the risk and never

looked back.

This song could refer to anyone that is in love. Possibly someone who has already had

their heartbroken would be able to relate more to these music videos. The gender that this song

is targeting is women. The life experiences that this could refer to are people that have been in

love and it did not end up the way anybody wanted it to, so it was harder for her to trust until she

was shown the right way to be loved.

¨Everything I'm looking now, I´m surrounded by your embrace, baby I can see your halo

you know your my saving grace … swore I'd never fall again, but this doesn't even feel like

falling, gravity can't forget to pull me back to the ground again.¨ Overall, the message of the

videos and songs is to spread love and have unity with your partner, as well as to be there for

her when she needs it the most.
