As per the request received for the soil investigation work, the SBC recommendation is as
under: -

1. From stratification encountered during soil investigation trial pit log and SPT performed in
proposed construction area, collected rock samples, stratification of based on Trial Pit log are
tabulated below: -
Layer – I Brownish to Yellowish, clayey silty sand with gravels

Layer – II Highly weathered medium to fine grained Sandstone/shale

2. Recommendation is made for Raft foundation to be provided and 30 cm base concrete

above on virgin soil. Conclusions are based on accepted norms.
They are as follows: -

Prime Consideration is laid that Foundations should not fail in shear. Factor of safety of 3 is
considered against shear failure.

Anticipated settlements should be less than allowable total settlement of 12 mm respectively

for isolated foundation is considered.
Exact foundation depth shall depend on up lift forces on the foundations. Net safe bearing
capacity to be adopted, recommended for open foundations placed at depth below the
ground level is tabulated below: -

Note: Safe Bearing Capacity was calculated as per IS 6403 & IS 12070

As per annexure J (Clause 5.3.4.2) G, National Building code, Bhopal lies in earthquake Zone
II. The structural design should be as per the provision.
Suitable dewatering system should be adopted for placing concrete in dry condition.
Drainage arrangement for release of pore water pressure should be made below the
foundation.
The recommendation is based on the field investigation and the laboratory test results of
the samples collected from the site location and our experience in this regard. If the actual
sub soil conduction during excavation for the foundations differ from that has been
reported, a reference should be made to us for suggestions.
During excavation of foundation, proper precaution should be taken to ensure that stability
of entire area is maintained /monitored properly.
