1. Smallest number divisible by 8 in the given range = 208

Last number divisible by 8 in the given range = 496
So, 𝑎𝑎 = 208, 𝑑𝑑 = 8, 𝑛𝑛 =? , T𝑛𝑛 = 496
We know,

T𝑛𝑛 = 𝑎𝑎 + (𝑛𝑛 − 1)𝑑𝑑

496 = 208 + (𝑛𝑛 − 1)8
8𝑛𝑛 + 208 − 8 = 496
8𝑛𝑛 = 496 − 200
8𝑛𝑛 = 296
296
𝑛𝑛 = = 37
8
So number of terms between 200 and 500 divisible by 8 are 37 .

2. Let the numbers be 𝑥𝑥 and (15 − 𝑥𝑥). So, their reciprocals are and respectivley.
𝑥𝑥 15−𝑥𝑥
Now,

⇒ 𝑥𝑥(15 − 𝑥𝑥) = 50
⇒ 15𝑥𝑥 − 𝑥𝑥 2 = 50
⇒ 𝑥𝑥 2 − 15𝑥𝑥 + 50 = 0
⇒ 𝑥𝑥 2 − 10𝑥𝑥 − 5𝑥𝑥 + 50 = 0
⇒ 𝑥𝑥(𝑥𝑥 − 10) − 5(𝑥𝑥 − 10) = 0
⇒ (𝑥𝑥 − 5)(𝑥𝑥 − 10) = 0
⇒ 𝑥𝑥 = 5 and 10 .
∴ Numbers are 5 and 10 .

Frequency (𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑖 ) 2 8 10 5 4 3 N = Σ𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑖 = 32

Since, 20 − 30 has the highest frequency, it is the modal class.

So, 𝑙𝑙 = 20, 𝑓𝑓 = 10, 𝑓𝑓1 = 8, 𝑓𝑓2 = 5, ℎ = 10
Thus,
𝑓𝑓 − 𝑓𝑓1
Mode = 𝑙𝑙 + ×ℎ
2𝑓𝑓 − 𝑓𝑓1 − 𝑓𝑓2

10 − 8

Thus,
𝑘𝑘, (2𝑘𝑘 −1) and (2𝑘𝑘 + 1)
𝑑𝑑 = (2𝑘𝑘 − 1) − 𝑘𝑘 = 2𝑘𝑘 + 1 − (2𝑘𝑘 − 1)
2𝑘𝑘 − 1 − 𝑘𝑘 = 2𝑘𝑘 + 1 − 2𝑘𝑘 + 1
𝑘𝑘 − 1 =2
𝑘𝑘 = 3.

OR
Since, the number is divisible by both 2 and 5 , means it must be divisible by 10.
In the given numbers, first number that is divisible by 10 is 110 .
Next number is 110 + 10 = 120.
The last number that is divisible by 10 is 990 .
Thus, the progression will be 110,120, … ,990.
All the terms are divisible by 10 , and thus forms an A.P. having first term as 110 and the common difference as
10.
We know that, 𝑛𝑛th term = 𝑎𝑎𝑛𝑛 = 𝑎𝑎 + (𝑛𝑛 − 1)𝑑𝑑
According to the question,

990 = 110 + (𝑛𝑛 − 1)10

⇒ 990 = 110 + 10𝑛𝑛 − 10
⇒ 10𝑛𝑛 = 990 − 100
⇒ 10𝑛𝑛 = 890
⇒ 𝑛𝑛 = 89
Thus, the number of natural numbers between 101 and 999 which are divisible by both 2 and 5 is 89 .

5. Join OP such that it bisects ∠𝑄𝑄𝑄𝑄𝑄𝑄.

Thus,
∠OPQ = ∠OPR = 23∘
Also,
∠OQP = ∠ORP = 90∘
So,
∠QOP = ∠ROP
= 180∘ − (90∘ + 23∘ )
= 180∘ − 113∘ = 67∘
Hence,
∠QOR = ∠QOP + ∠ROP
= 67∘ + 67∘ = 134∘ .
6. Let the radius of the larger sphere be R and the smaller be 𝑟𝑟.

7. Let the ground distance between the aeroplane A and the point E be 𝑥𝑥 m. Given, height AD is 3000√3 m and the angle
of elevation is 60∘ . So, in △ AED,
Let the new distance (DC) covered by aeroplane in 30 seconds be 𝑦𝑦 m.
So,
3000√3
tan 30∘ =
3000 + 𝑦𝑦
1 3000√3
=
√3 3000 + 𝑦𝑦
3000 + 𝑦𝑦 = (3000√3)√3
3000 + 𝑦𝑦 = 9000
𝑦𝑦 = 9000 − 3000
= 6000 m

Thus, distance covered in 30 seconds = 6000 m

Hence,

6000
Speed =
30
= 200 m/sec
18
= 200 × km/hr
5
Hence, the speed of the aeroplane is 720 km/hr.

10. Let Swati's age 7 years ago be x years.
Then, Varun's age 7 years ago is 5𝑥𝑥 2 years.
Swati's present age = 𝐱𝐱 + 7 years
Varun's present age = 𝟓𝟓𝐱𝐱 2 + 𝟕𝟕 years.
3 years hence:-
Swati's age = 𝑥𝑥 + 7 + 3 = 𝑥𝑥 + 10 years.
Varun's age = 5𝑥𝑥 2 + 7 + 3 = 5𝑥𝑥 2 + 10 years.
According to the Question,

⇒ 𝑥𝑥 − 2 = 0 or 2𝑥𝑥 + 3 = 0
⇒ 𝑥𝑥 = 2, −3/2( As 𝑥𝑥 can't be negative )
⇒ 𝑥𝑥 = 2

Swati's present age = 𝑥𝑥 + 7 = 2 + 7 = 9 years.

Varun's present age = 5𝑥𝑥 2 + 7 = 27 years.

14. Let ABCD be a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle with centre O.
Now join AO, BO, CO, DO.
From the figure, ∠DAO = ∠BAO [Since, AB and AD are tangents]
Let ∠DAO = ∠BAO = 1
Also ∠ABO = ∠CBO [Since, BA and BC are tangents]
Let ∠ABO = ∠CBO = 2
Similarly we take the same way for vertices 𝐶𝐶 and D
Sum of the angles at the centre is 360∘
Recall that sum of the angles in quadrilateral, ABCD = 360∘ = 2(1 + 2 + 3 + 4) = 360∘

= 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 180∘

In △ AOB, ∠BOA = 180 − (1 + 2)

In ΔCOD, ∠COD = 180 − (3 + 4)

∠BOA + ∠COD = 360 − (1 + 2 + 3 + 4)

= 360∘ − 180∘

= 180∘

Since AB and CD subtend supplementary angles at O.

Thus, opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend supplementary angles at the centre of the
circle.
