The Capstone is a unique and demanding challenge.

In completing it, what did you learn

about your subject? Your skill set? Yourself?
When creating my videos, I got a small glimpse into editing videos and how much work it takes.
My videos were barely edited but for me that was still difficult to figure out so I couldn’t even
imagine the work that goes into editing some of the other videos I've watched.
How is your project relevant to you, the school or the community at large?
Boxing is a sport I'm extremely passionate about and have been since a very young age, so
when I was brainstorming Capstone ideas Boxing instantly came to my mind. For me to make
videos covering the basics means a lot because I remember first starting out in boxing and
watching those videos just in hopes to advance faster than anyone else in my class.
How did you demonstrate the six core competencies throughout this project?
Communication - I connected and engaged with others by presenting them with my capstone
idea and considered any feedback they had to give
Creative Thinking - I generated new ideas by coming up with ideas for my capstone
Critical Thinking - I analyzed the material I had for my project and looked to see how I could
improve it
Positive Personal and Cultural Identity – Before recording any videos I already knew my
personal strengths and abilities I would be able to use when recording also knew the things I
would have to learn
Personal Awareness and Responsibility - I had to be self-determined to ensure that my
capstone was completed to what I feel like is the best of my capabilities and handed in on time
Social Responsibility – Whenever a problem occurred while recording my videos, I always
stayed calm and dealt with the issue peacefully
What impact if any did the Capstone project have?
I don’t think the Capstone project really had an impact on me, but it made me realize how
difficult it is to take something as complex as boxing and simplify it in a way everyone can
understand.
What was a difficulty you encountered and how did you solve the problem?
One difficulty I had was trying to simplify boxing in a way everyone can learn from when boxing
is way more difficult than one would expect. Most people that are uneducated think boxing is
just throwing punches and beating your opponent up but it's not. There is so much more to it
such as throwing punches from certain angles so they will land better or learning to pay
attention to your opponent's habits and look for any patterns. There is just so much to teach
about boxing so summing up the basics was a challenge.
What is one thing about your finished project that you wish you could change?
I wish I was better at editing, so I would've been able to edit my videos better making them
more professional. Besides that, I don’t have any other wishes because I’m happy with how my
videos turned out.
What advice would you give to a student who will be completing their capstone project next
year?
To just stay on top of your work and make sure you get everything done.
What source from your research helped the most or least?
None of the resources I had used from my annotated bibliography helped me in any way when I
was thinking about how I would record my videos and what I would do in the videos.
What is one thing about your approach to your project that you wish you could change?
I wish I knew what I was doing earlier on in the project that way I didn’t waste time planning
around one project strand and switching to another later on. Another wish would be that I
started really focusing on my project earlier on instead of just procrastinating.
