I. RATIONALE

The Department of Education recognizes that the quality of teaching had a

significant impact on the quality of learning. In line with the implementation of
Republic Act No. 10533, or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2012, the
Department of Education issues the enclosed policy on the “Learning Action
Cell” as a key intervention that supports the implementation of the K-12
strategies.

Different methods of teacher professional development are implemented to

ensure improvement in the teaching-learning processes. Thus, the Midsalip
NHS English Department also recognizes that the quality of learning is greatly
influenced by the quality of teaching. Successful teaching is a result of the
systematic use of appropriate strategies for delivering and assessing the
learning objectives targeted for each lesson.

In view of this, MNHS – English Department initiates to conduct a year-round

School Learning Action Cell (SLAC). It is a training with a group of teachers
who engage in collaborative learning sessions to solve shared challenges
encountered in school especially in this time of pandemic. It is further a
departmental community of practice which observes positive, caring, and safe
spaces.

II. OBJECTIVES

The overall aim of the training is to enhance the teachers’ understanding of

the process of differentiation of instructions and strategies in this time of
pandemic to continually offer the quality of learning to the learners with
specific reference to the students’ educational needs. Specifically, the
participants are expected to:
a) Select and implement the most effective instructional strategies and
materials to teach the identified content objectives;
b) Enhance pedagogical knowledge, skills and attitudes;
c) Provide detailed reference to help in the understanding of the tools and
the different phases of assessment within the various cycles of RPMS,
ensuring that mechanisms are in place to support teachers’ performance;
d) to enhance professionalism, promote/ ensure continuous learning among
teachers and achieving their professional goals;
e) provide a venue to enhance the skills of teachers on how to prepare and
develop contextualized learning materials; and,
f) show appreciation on the importance of the school-based Learning Action
Cell (LAC), which primarily functions as a professional learning
community for teachers.
