I. MULTIPLE CHOICE: DIRECTION; this is an ESSAY type of examination, write your answer
comprehensively.

1. Explain RA 1425
The Rizal Law, also known as RA 1425, mandates the study of Rizal’s life and works,
as shown in section. This Republic Act calls for an increased sense of nationalism from the
Filipinos during a time of a dwindling Filipino identity. Rizal Law mandates all education
institutions in the Philippines to offer courses about Jose Rizal. To put in simply, it requires all
college students to have e units of the Life, works and writings of Rizal for them to graduate.

2. Why Dr. Jose Rizal, was chosen as the national hero of the Philippines? 

Jose Rizal became a national hero of the Philippines because he stood for
independence in a quiet but strong way. He communicated his passion for the Philippines
through his novels, essays and articles, not through the use of force or aggression. At his
moment, he was a very wonderful guy. He was modest, fighting for change through his writings
instead of through revolt. He used his intelligence, talents and skills in a more peaceful way
rather than the aggressive way.

3. Differentiate a national hero and an ordinary hero.

The National Hero is someone who has made significant positive contributions to the development and
prosperity of society and embodies us all also sacrifices her/himself for the nation’s freedom and the
National Hero designation is a lifetime honor that is bestowed, while Ordinary heroes are individuals
who act heroically as they bravely defend or rescue others. They do not have superpowers, but they have
a good heart for the people, and they rise above their abilities to do exceptional selfless deeds.

4.  What are the reasons why the family name Mercado was change to the family name Rizal?

Jose’s real last name, Mercado, during those times was a hot name, targeted by the
Spaniards. He changed his surname to protect his identity. So he just used his middle name,
Rizal, instead, which was considered as illustrado during the Spanish time and entails the
benefits a Spaniard can get.
 Due to his strong connection with Father Burgos, the friars and the Spanish authorities
turned out to be very suspicious of Paciano. As a protective brother, he changed his brother’s
surname from Mercado to Rizal to prevent the friars in knowing their affiliation. Luckily, Pepe
was able to make most out of his student life in Ateneo. Paciano also made sure that all his
brother’s needs were well taken cared.

5. As millennials how the life of Rizal does influenced you?  

1. In your layman’s understanding, what do you know about first aid?

From what i understand, First Aid is the temporary help given to an injured or a sick person before
professional medical treatment can be provided. This timely assistance, comprising of simple
medical techniques, is most critical to the victims and is, often, lifesaving. The purpose of first aid
is to minimize injury and future disability. In serious cases, first aid may be necessary to keep the
victim alive.
