The practical exercise shall be carried out and performed individually in


an approved Cargo Handling laboratory. The student must demonstrate
the required outcome according to performance standard within time
Condition prescribed.

To demonstrate the required outcome, the student must be able to


perform the criteria set out in the Learning outcome.

Student shall be familiarized with the use of the simulator using the
Familiarization “Cargo Handling Simulator (Simulator Familiarization Checklist)”
attached.

cargo of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) .
Scenario Description
Before loading to commence, it is necessary to familiarize the piping to
the new officers and crew who recently joined the vessel.
Type of ship: Oil/Chemical Tanker
Deadweight: 55,000 tonnes
LOA : 203.00 meters
Maximum cargo intake 1500 m3 per hour.
Ship’s Particulars Total Cargo to load: Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK)
Density @ 15°C: 0.7900
Cargo loading temperature: 25°C
Volume Correction Factor: see table ASTM 54B
1. Drafts on arrival: Fore 4.00M, Aft: 6.00M, Trim: 2.00M
2. 6 pairs of Cargo tanks are all Epoxy coated;
3. Vessel is empty of cargo and in 90% ballast in her Segregated Ballast
Tanks;
4. All cargo tanks are cleaned to methanol grade, inspected by SGS
Surveyors and certified fit for loading ATK;

5. Vessel is to load up to 22meter ullage and stop for cargo sampling;
6. Oxygen content in the tanks atmosphere maintained below 8%.
