About Mi Vida Loca

Mi Vida Loca is an interactive online video series that takes Spanish learners on an adventure in Spain.
Along the way, students get exposed to culture, authentic language, and beginning Spanish structures.
Why I Wanted Activities Outside the Show
Mi Vida Loca works well for in-class viewing and also as homework. A complete syllabus and lots of extra
grammar and vocabuary practice are available on the BBC website, so be sure to check it out thoroughly!
This packet is desgined to allow individual students to stay engaged while watching as a class, and for
students watching at home to be accountable. I print out the entire packet, and they keep it for future
reference since each episode builds on the ones before. We use the sheets for classroom conversation,
review games, and Q&A.1

After Watching

On my blog, Spanish Mama, I have collected games, songs, and

videos for every episode. Make sure to check it out to get ac-
cess these fun resources. Orange links will take you to explana-
tions of the games:

Episode 1:
 Use the “practica” section to practice ¿Cómo se llama? and ¿Eres…? in class. If your students are
beginners, use proper names: ¿Eres Shakira?
 Play Sí soy/No, no soy.
Episode 2:
 Review ¿Eres…? with the new vocabulary terms this episode. Make sure to use un/una. Call out the
food terms and have students give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down.
 Introduce me gusta/ no me gusta and mark one side of the room for each term. Students walk to the
side that shows if they like or don’t like the item.
 Play 4 corners, with a corner each for un, una, unos, and unas.
Episode 3:
 Before or after completing the practica section, have students put their fingers on A or B and give them
directions. They should follow the directions by tracing with their fingers.
 Divide into teams and project the city map onto the board. Each team sends out one member and
chooses a place for “buried treasure” for the opposite team. When the team member returns, his or
her teams gives directions from point A or B. Time them, so the fastest team to give directions to the
correct place in Spanish wins.
 Play Medusas..
Episode 4:
 After writing conversations in the “practica” section, put students in groups to write skits of friends
meeting one another.
 Do a Citas Rápidas activity.
Episode 5
 Practice the vocabulary by asking students ¿Quieres….?
 Do a voting Bracket Activity to review the food and drinks covered so far in My Vida Loca.
