Purpose:
Purpose of QTB to Familiarized construction team to installation requirements of
Exhaust Fan
Installation
 Each equipment unit shall be installed at the location indicated on the drawings and
in accordance with details of mounting, with vibration isolation as required by the
Design Specifications and in accordance to equipment Manufacturer’s
recommendations.
 Fans installed in parallel within a common system shall have back draft dampers,
which open when the fan motor is energized. All exhaust fans shall have back draft
dampers which shall close when fan is off.
 All fans shall be isolated from their ducts by flexible connections.
 Provisions shall be made to control equipment induced vibration. The use of
vibration isolators between equipment and foundations and/or building structures is
required to minimize transmitted vibration.
 Fans and their Motors shall be accessible for servicing and maintenance
 All HVAC Equipment shall be properly grounded in accordance with
 NFPA 70, National Electrical Code
