I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARDS The learner demonstrates understanding of rate and speed, and
of area and surface area of plane and solid/space figures.
B. PERFORMNACE STANDARDS The learner is able to apply knowledge of speed, area, and
surface area of plane and solid/space figures in mathematical
problems and real-life situations
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES / M6ME-IIIg17: Calculates speed, distance, and time.

REVIEW
T. Before we start on our lesson, let review first our previous
lesson. So, what was the topic we had?
S. It’s Solving Routine and Non- Routine Problems Involving
Numerical/Algebraic Expressions and Equations.
T. Very good. So, can you guys tell me what is the solution of
an equation?
S. A solution of an algebraic equation is a number that makes
the sentence true.
T. Great! Let us have a short activity for our last meeting,
okay?
S. Yes, ma’am
S:
T. Very good presentation group 1, 2 and 3. Let us, give one
another a “very good clap”.
T. Is it important? why?
T. Good job! Let us find out what is speed, distance and time
really mean, are you now ready?
S. Yes, ma’am
D. Discussing new concepts and (The teacher will now discuss)
practicing new skills #1
Speed
- Speed is a scalar quantity that refers to “how fast an
object is moving.”
- Speed can be thought of as the rate by which an object
covers distance.
T. With the help of our magic three we can find the equation
easily.
Given:
D= 100km
T= 2 hrs
S=?
S= d / t
S= 100km / 2hrs
S= 50 km/hr
Given:
D= 280
T= 4 hours
S= d/ t
S=- 280km / 4 hrs
S= 70 km/hr
T. Good job!
T.
Distance
- Distance is the total length between two positions.
- Distance is the amount of space between two objects or
the state of being far apart.
Equation: D= S x T
Given:
S= 60km/hr
T= 2 hrs
D=?
D= s x t
D= 60km/hr x 2 hrs
D= 120 km
Given:
S= 70km/hr
T= 3 hrs
D=?
D= s x t
D= 70km/hr x 3hrs
D= 210 km
Equation: T= d / s
Given:
D= 180 kilometer
S= 45 km/h
T=?
T= d / s
T= 180km/ 45km/h
T= 4 hrs.
a. Given:
D= 840 words
S= 20 minutes
T=?
T= d / s
T= 840 words / 20 mins
T= 42 words per minute
T. Excellent!
S. None sir
