IV. PROCEDURES
A. REVIEW & PRE- The teacher may bring objects of different shapes. The
ASSESSMENT teacher will ask the pupils. What are the shapes
shown? Show them the shapes line with dot divided
into two parts and 4 equal parts.
To how many parts did 2 divide? 1st circle? 2nd circle?
3rd square? 4th square? Have them name each part?

Say: This is a circle / square and it is divided into 2

parts and 4 parts

106
B. Presentation of Present an illustration of Pizza divided into two parts /
the Lesson 4 parts.

This is the This is the

share of kuya share of Ate

We call this part half or ½.

And for 4 part, we call each part ¼

Ask: What part of the circle is the share of kuya? Ate?

Mika? Joy? Yan? Iya? Label its part. Which is the half
of the circle? Which is the other half? Let them point it
 Teacher should emphasize the halves and
quarter.

C. Development of A. Activity
the Lesson Set the norms in performing the group activity.
(Teacher should prepare cut-outs of circles divided
into two and four of different colors)
a. Distribute half cut-outs and quarter cut-outs of
circles to the pupils. Let them look for the other half of
the circle and quarter circles. The first one to form the
circle would be the winner.
b. Look at the ilustration below, identify the half circle
and quarter circles and color it.

Ask:
What do you notice about half-circle and quarter
circle? Can we place a straight line in any position of
the circle to show its half part and quarter part? Why

107
Generalization We can divide the circle into halves and into
quarter.
In what part can we divide circles? (halves and
quarter)

Let the pupils identify objects w/ circular shapes

Reinforcing the Concept found inside the classroom then point-out the half and
and Skill quarter circle of it.

D. Evaluation Which of the following objects will show half and

quarter circles of the objects. Box it.

E. Assignment Draw objects found in your home which show half and
quarter circles.

B. Presentation of the 1. Motivation

Lesson Ask: What is your favorite food?
Why is that it is your favorite food?
2. Reading of the Story:
 Reading the Story by the teacher.
Tita’s Favorite Food
Tita will steam her favorite kakanin “kutsinta”.
We will use square, triangle, rectangle, and two
circular molders to make it decorative, Fe
suggests. Thanks for your suggestion, I’m sure
your little brother will like it, Tita’s replies. Let’s
bring one circular kutsinta to your Lolo and Lola.

110
The other one to your Uncle Joes daughters, Joy,
Iya, Yan and Liza. They will surely like it because
of its different shapes and colors.
 Pupils will do the second reading.
 Ask comprehension check leading to the
development of the concept.
1. What is Tita’s favorite food?
2. What did Fe suggest that will make
kutsinta decorative?
3. Can you tell the shapes of the molder?
4. If Lolo and Lola slice it equally, what part
of the kutsinta should each one get? Why?
5. If Tita slice the other circular kutsinta
equally into four what part of the kutsinta
should each one get? Why?

Discussing New Concept:

Look at the illustration of the kutsinta given to
the four daughters of Uncle Joe

Ask:
What did you notice in the illustration of kutsinta?
(the kutsinta was divided into 4 equal parts.)
What part of the circle did each daughter get? (1/4
or quarter circle.)

C. Development of the 1. Activity:

Lesson a. Puzzling Game
Give pupils cut-out of circles. Let them
arrange the half and quarter circles to form the
whole circle. The first one to form the puzzle will
be the winner.

b. Individual Activity
Draw circle of different sizes color half
circle and quarter circle.

111
Generalization We classify half circle when we divide it into
two equal parts or ½ parts. And quarter circle into
4 equal parts or ¼.

Application: Show objects or picture of

B. Presentation of Say: Everyone knows how to draw, identify and
the Lesson construct squares, rectangles and triangles. You also
learned how to distinguish between half and quarter
circle.
By this time you will learn how to construct circle, half
circle and quarter circle.
Say: Class do you know that models of circles may be
created by paper folding?
Create a model of a circle by paper folding.

118
Teacher will show to the class on how to fold the
paper and cut it diagonally.
Creating models of these shapes can also be done
using square grids. This requires the use of graphing
paper.
The teacher will show to the class how to make circle,
half circle and quarter circle using square grids or
graphing paper.

C. Development of a. Activity – Group Work Activity

the Lesson Group the pupils into four

Group I and II – Construct circles, half circles and

quarter circles using graphing paper.

Group III and IV – Using bond paper let them fold

and cut circle, half circle and quarter
circle.
b. Individual Activity
Construct or draw object which is circular
in shape, half and quarter circle.

There are two methods which can be used in
making models of different shapes namely paper
folding and square grids use plain paper or graphing
papers, pencils and scissors in constructing shapes.
