Module 1: Role of Hormones in Reproductive System

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the organisms as having feedback mechanisms, which are
coordinated by the nervous, endocrine, and reproductive systems.
B. Performance Standards
The learners shall be able to create a campaign advertising blog/video which contains the items in promoting the
reproductive health and wellness.

C. Most Essential Learning Competency/ Objectives

1. Describe the male and female reproductive system including body parts and functions;
2. Explain the role of hormones secreted by the male and female reproductive system and
3. Discuss the role of hormones involved in the male and female reproductive system

B. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Presenting the new lesson
Identify the term being described. Choose your answer from the terms inside the figure. Write your
answer in the blank.
TRACHEA____1. I am called as windpipe. I am a hollow tube that serves as passage way of air into lungs. What am
I?
BRONCHIOLES 2. I am the finer subdivisions of the bronchi, I am hair like tubes that connect to alveoli.
What am I?
ALVEOLI___ 3. I am called as air sacs. I allow the gas exchange in lungs. What am I?
HEART____ 4. I am a hollow muscular organ. I am about the size of your fist located in the center of
your chest between the lungs. What am I?
VALVE____ 5. I act as one-way door. I allow blood to flow either forward into the next chamber, or out of the
heart. What am I?

trachea

alveoli Lungs

valve heart
bronchiole
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson- Pre Activity
Activity 1. Pair Me!
Directions: List down the reproductive organ or cell that can be found on the box and pair them on the CHART
where they belong to.
MALE FEMALE
Penis fallopian tube pancreas
Vagina blood spinal cord
Intestine lungs scrotum
Skull ovary cervix
Heart testis prostate
Sperm ovum kidney

C. Presenting examples/ instances

of the new lesson
Present samples of male and female reproductive system, let the students analyze and name each part.
(Name of the parts will be provided and posted as well on the other side of the board)

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2
The Roles of Hormones in Female and Male Reproductive Systems
The entire reproductive system is dependent on hormones. These are chemicals that stimulate or regulate the
activity of your cells or organs.

Hormones are chemical messengers of the body. They are important to maintain homeostasis.
Testosterone
• Most important male hormone
• It is responsible for regulating sex differentiation, male sex characteristics, spermatogenesis and fertility

Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

• FSH – signals development of egg cells (oogenesis)
• LH – plays a role in the development of ova, and stimulation of estradiol and progesterone production

Estrogen
• instrumental in breast development, fat distribution in the hips, legs and breasts, and the development of
reproductive organs
• secreted by ovaries PRIOR to ovulation

Progesterone
• helps prepare the body for potential pregnancy
• prohibits muscle contractions in the uterus that would cause the body to reject an egg
• secreted by ovaries AFTER ovulation
• If egg is not fertilized, progesterone levels become low and menstruation happens

F. Developing mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment )

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living.

 Taking care of the health of the reproductive system is an important part of being adult like you.
Practicing good hygiene is a way of taking care of reproductive health. Women, during menstruation
should use clean, soft cloth or sanitary napkins. Women who have white discharge with bad smell or
notice any infection of the reproductive tract should consult a doctor immediately and use condoms for
safe sex.

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

Let the students give their generalization about the lesson

I. Evaluating learning
Activity 3 : Hormones Secreted by the Female Reproductive System
Directions : Try to arrange the jumbled letters to form the correct terms based on the given definition. Write your
answer on the blank.
__________1. Hormones that produced by the follicle cells.
NIIBNNI
__________2. Productive hormone in females.
SETORNEG
__________3. It produce secondary sex characteristics in females.
SRALIOTED
__________4. Released from the developing follicles.
REPGESTONORE
__________5. It caused the release of hormones FHS and LH.
PAYLITITURERATONI

IV. ASSIGNMENT

(example soap, deodorant, brush and etc). Have a short explanation for each item.
