OK, since everyone says this is allowed, I'm gonna throw out the idea for my

submission to BoS. Please tell me honestly what you think!

Ilion is a gift from the Dark powers to Frantisek Markov. Markov had been

all alone on his Island since the Grand Conjunction, until Baron von

Aubrecker of Lamordia decided to try and colonize the as-yet unmapped

island. That original expedition never returned, and most of its members

suffered nasty ends on Markov's tables. however, one colonist, a young

doctor named Ingrid Hellenger offered her medical expertiese to Markov's

employ. Igrid is a cold, emotionless woman who cares for nothing but

science and its advances. Markov ws taken witht eh woman and figured he'd

keep her around as long as she proved useful.

Not long after Ingrid's arrival to Markovia, a ship came into Markov's

employ, the "Triton's Bounty." One of the sailors of the Bounty was

overcome with a strange sickness while the ship was in port, and he had to

be left on the island until he recuperated. This sailor, a bright young man

named Beron, began to fall in love with Ingrid, who was nursing him back to

health. Ingrid was still cold and unreceptive to Beron's emotions, and the

boy spent his nights alone and disappointed.

markov, however, found out about this attraction, and his most wicked gears

began to turn. he ordered Ingrid to engage the boy nightly until she became

pregnant. ingrid dutifully obeyed, and though she knew nothing of love, she

allowed herself to become pregnant with beron's child. Once she knew she

was pregnant, she went back to her normal cold self.

Beron could not understand why the object of his affections had been

receptive to him for such a short period, just to deny him the pleasures
they had endured so suddenly. He figured Markov had found out about their

tryst and forbidden Ingrid to be with beron any longer. Not long after,

'Triton's Bounty' returned with it's precious cargo: a Lion.

Beron eagerly left Markovia, though he said that "the good doctor" as he

called markov, had been nothing but the most generous of hosts. "Triton's

Bounty" then sailed out of this story and Beron never saw his love again.

But markov's twisted curiosity about life has no bounds, and he immediately

began glandular injections and other atrocious expriments on the unborn

fetus in Ingrid's womb. Nine months later, on a night with no stars, Ingrid

gave irth to Ilion, and the traits of a Lion were already clearly found on

the babe's face.

Ingrid has no maternal instincts and treated her new "son" as coldly as

anyone else. The child never even found out that Ingrid is is mother.

Ilion was raised by Markov, and taught to love and explore his animal side.

Ilion is now 10 years old, and at full maturity. he stands apporximately

6'4" and is solidly built. His eyes are blue, but with vertical pupils. he

has a wild mane of golden hair, and tawny fur covers his entire body. His

face is a feminie muzzle and his voice is a deep bass. Both his hands and

feet have retractable claws, and a short tale with a tuft on the end sticks

out of his loose trousers.

Ilion is very well-read, having read every book on the island. His

appreciation for drama and high literature is a stark contrast to Ingrid's

scientific mind and Markov's obsessive experiments. He speaks Balok and

Lamordian fluently, and reads most Core languages. The beastmen of Markovia

both fear and revere him, seeing him as an evolutionary step-forward, but
also being afraid because he lives with Diosamblet and not with them.

Ilion has an animalistic range of emotions. He commonly has a feline

calmness about him, but his eyes will tell anyone that he is thouroughly

examining every situation. When agitated or angry, he is difficult to

control and is subject to bouts of violence. But one emotion escapes him:

Love.

Ilion reads the great romances of the Core, and pines to feel the things the

playwrites put before him. He has a dangerous Oedipus complex regarding

Ingrid, and is envious of any male that talks with her, including his most

wise 'Father,' Markov. When a ship is in harbor and Markov has dinner with

the captain and first mate, Ilion watches through the window and lets his

emotions rage inside him. On more than one occasion he has murdered a man

in secret for simply being next to Ingrid, where he cannot be himself. His

sorrowful roars can be heard at any hour and shake the entire island.

markov inadvertently feuls Ilion's rage by buying books that he would

otherwise have no use for on the island. Markov is a firm believer that

everyone needs a hobby--he's very proud of his own. If Ilion likes to read,

let him read, Markov thinks. But every happy ending that Ilion reads pushes

him one tep closer to attempting to make his own life end happily. And no

one will stand in his way.
