Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be worn asper the following mandatory requirements:
Failure to comply with PPE Requirements at any time is a Safety Violation.
Appropriate Safety Footwear (Personnel working in designated areas* must wear Safety Boots that are at least 6-inches (15.25 cm) high, with sturdy leather construction, a safety toe, an oil
resistant sole, distinct heel, and no mesh. Soft-toed uppers are not allowed.)
Head Protection (Helmet/Hardhat) (As per manufacturer instructions; visually Inspected prior to use; replacement if damaged and not older than five (5) years from date of manufacture.)
Eye Protection (Safety Glasses ANSI Z87.1 or EN 166 or equivalent; must be worn at all times in designated areas*.)
Hand Protection: Leather work gloves must be readily available at all times in designated areas* and must be worn for any "hand's on work".
PPE
Respiratory Protection: Minimum N95 particulate dust masks must be readily available and be used in dusty areas. Half face and full face respirators are required in those areas designated
with signage.
Face Protection: Face shields are required for all lancing, cutting (torchwork) and grinding activities in addition to eye protection.
Hearing Protection: Ear plugs &/or Ear Muffs must be readily available at all times in designated areas* and are mandatory above 82 dBA or where signage indicates mandatory useage.
Fire Resistant (FR) Clothing: FR rated outer clothing NFPA 2112 or EN ISO 11612 or equivalent is required in all designated areas*
High Visibility Striping: Hi-Vis striping is required in all designated areas*.
*For the purposes of this JSA, all areas and furnace levels inside and immediately surrounding the Furnace Building and Outotec Laydown Areas are considered as "Designated Areas".
