REFLECTION ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH

Sir Lumibao was the speaker during our seminar who talked and discussed about mental
health. The conducted seminar emphasizes awareness of the mental health. Personally, I don’t
give too much attention and importance about mental health every time I hear about it. But,
during the seminar as sir Lumibao feeds us information about mental health, it came to my
realization that, I should oblige myself to at least give some of my time to listen to the discussion
of sir Lumibao for me to be able to have deeper understanding about the importance of mental
health, its importance to myself, to my parents, relatives and friends. It is a great opportunity for
me to attend the seminar because it tackles about mental health issues and many students are
facing and experiencing it. Many people particularly teenagers are dealing with depression, some
may lead to suicide. Having a seminar like this make people become more aware of mental
health.

.After the seminar, I realized that Mental Health is something about we need to think
about because we thought it was just nothing, we ignored the fact that many people are
experiencing it right now specifically us, teenagers. We should not just acknowledge mental
health is important, we should talk about it. It is not easy dealing with mental health because it
includes our emotional, psychological and social wee-being. It affects how we think, feel and act.
It also helps us determine how to handle our stress and make choices that may affect others and
ourselves as well. There are different types of mental health and a lot who are having a difficult
time battling it that cannot handle on their own. Most common mental health illnesses are
anxiety and depression. We may think that these are common but little did we know, many of
them lost in the midst of their battle thinking to themselves that they cannot do it anymore, that
they do not deserve to be where they are and it leads them ending their life to rest, to be free
from their suffering but the problem is those people who tell them “it’s going to be okay”

Knowing that a lot of us are stressed at some point in our lives that results to us
overthinking if we can actually do it or not. A mindset is first, in a much easier way to tell is you
have a clear mind. Maintaining good mental health is crucial to living a long and healthy life. It
is important for all of us to have good mental health because it can enhance one’s life, while poor
mental health can prevent someone from living an enriching life. We need to nurture our mental
health because it can help us combat or prevent the mental health problems that are sometimes
associated with a chronic physical illness. We need to be healthy, we need to take control of our
stress.

I think that we really do need mental health awareness and it should not only for a day.
We must be informed about it because it can easily happen to someone close to us. Awareness is
form of education. The more you know, the more power you have. Knowledge is power.
