Title of the Program: The Gift of blood is the gift of life: A blood awareness webinar

Problem: Blood Awareness

Theme: Dugong Taglay, Bakit kaya Kailangan ng may Buhay?

Date: May 2022

Venue: Via Google Meet and Angeles’ Residence Barangay San Miguel A. Caputatan,

Maragondon, Cavite

Proponents: BSMT 1-1 Cluster 1

I. Rationale

Blood is one of the vital components of our body. It keeps the human body functional

and well-maintained by distributing oxygen and nutrients to different parts of the body. To add

further knowledge, the blood is responsible for regulating the temperature, hormones, and

equilibrium of the human body. According to the data gathered during the assessment in San

Miguel A (Caputatan), Maragondon, Cavite, 70% of the respondents don't know their blood

types. Furthermore, 20 families in the barangay only go for check-ups when they are sick and

experiencing symptoms. In consideration of this, blood awareness is needed for the respondent

families to impart useful and insightful information regarding the blood. Being aware of one’s

blood can help an individual know their health risk factors and what health measures they can

take to prevent acquiring blood-related diseases. Moreover, knowing the blood type of a person

is advantageous in times of emergency situations as it can save others by safely conducting

blood donations and transfusions. In summary, the majority of the respondents are not aware of

the functions and importance of blood to their life—and this calls for a blood awareness

program.

Date: May 20, 2022

Venue: Via Google Meet in Barangay San Miguel A. Caputatan, Maragondon, Cavite

Proponents: BSMT 1-1 Cluster 1

I. Rationale

Cleanliness of the environment is a big factor for a safer community in terms of health.

Proper waste disposal could lead one progress to another. The three R’s (reuse, reduce, and

recycle), proper segregation of wastes, timely and proper disposal of the collected wastes are

essential in creating a clean and healthy environment, combating pollution and health hazards.

However due to lack of facilities and personnel, the Philippines faces major challenges

regarding the implementation and Management of the wastes specially the urban areas.

According to the data gathered during the assessment in San Miguel A (Caputatan),

Maragondon, Cavite, majority of the residents (50%) have no proper drainage, in addition,

regarding garbage containers 30% does have a garbage container however is open (without

cover). Moreover, there is a family that does not have any garbage containers at all.

Furthermore, in disposing wastes the most used method is open burning. Hence overall proper

waste disposal isn’t achieved in the community.

II. Objectives
After program implementation, the community will be able to:

1. Gain knowledge about the importance of proper waste management such as proper

waste disposal and proper waste segregation.

2. Acquire awareness of the illness that the community may have in unsanitary waste

management.

3. Increase the consciousness of the community in the segregation of biodegradable, non-

biodegradable, and infectious waste by disposing it in different trash bins.

4. Practice proper waste management including proper waste disposal and proper waste

segregation.
