What Is It
5
Here is a tabular summary of the ideas presented:
As you have seen in the table above, one of the uses of conditionals
specifically of the 1st Conditional is expressing logical consequences. Hence,
1st Conditional is also helpful when a person is expressing an argument. An
argument is a statement or set of statements that you use in order to try to
convince people that your opinion about something is correct.
6
In everyday English, an argument is a dispute or debate. In logic, the
term has a more technical meaning. An argument is a set of at least two
statements, one of which is the conclusion of the argument, and the rest of
which are premises offered in support of the conclusion.

What’s More
Again, conditional sentences have four kinds: zero, first, second, and
third conditional sentences. Be sure to remember how they differ from one
another and their verb tenses are formed. For you to fully grasp the verb
tenses in each kind, answer the activity below.
11. Frank will play as the DJ if others bring along their CDs.

12 She would have bought new bicycle if she had saved enough money.

13 Allan will mix the drinks if Jane gives him some of her cocktail
recipes. ___________________
14 If we liked to go shopping in a big city, we would hire a helicopter.
