The learners demonstrate the understanding of how energy is harnessed from different
sources.
b. Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to make either a poster, a flyer or a brochure on a product
(such as fuels, household, or personal care products) indicating its uses, properties, mode of
action and 1recautions.
Learning Code/Objectives:
S11/12PS-IIIi-29
a. Identify the different sources of energy.
b. Differentiate renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.
c. Express awareness on the conservation of our energy sources.

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer

Everybody, Please stand up!

May I ask a volunteer to lead the prayer? (One volunteer from the class will lead the
prayer.)
2. Greetings

Good afternoon, Class!

It’s nice to see you too! Good morning, Ma’am Marcia!
It’s nice to see you.
3. Checking the cleanliness of the classroom

Before you sit down kindly pick up all the pieces

of paper or any trash that you see and put them in The room is clean now, Ma’am.
the trash bin or in your bag.

4. Checking of attendance

Is there any absent from the class?

You may now take your seats. No one is absent today, Ma’am!
ELICIT

The teacher will present numbers and the students

will match what letter in the alphabet is the given
number.
For example:
13-1-18-3-9-1 -----------------------M A R C I A

Here are the given numbers.

a. 5-14-5-18-7-25-----------------------ENERGY
b. 11-9-14-5-19-9-3 -------------------KINETIC
c.16-15-19-5-14-19-9-1-12 ----------POTENTIAL

(Give points to those students who can find the

mystery word given by the teacher. Each word is
equivalent to 1 point.)

Questions: 1. When you are sitting with your

hands on your desk, do you think you are already
spending energy? Yes Ma’am.
Yes, but only lesser energy or we
call it, stored energy.
Potential energy Ma’am.
2. How do you call that type of
energy? Kinetic energy Ma’am.
When you raise your

hand or move your hand to
write, what type of energy is
that?
Very good! Your hand
has kinetic energy or it is in
motion.

The teacher will present a picture of the You have to charge it Ma’am.
appliances at home.

Take a look of these pictures. Yes Ma’am.

Do you have this at home?
(Some will joke around saying it comes from
Have you ever wondered where your electricity Zamsureco)
comes from?
Your utility company purchases electricity from
various sources — could be solar panels on your
roof or a nuclear power plant 200 miles away.

After asking, introduce the topic.

EXPLORE

The teacher will divide the class into two groups

and give a differentiated activity.

Group 1: Make a flyer on a product that supplies Fossil fuels and Battery.
energy indicating its uses.

Group 2: Perform a short role play on how to

conserve electricity.

(The teacher will present the rubric and let the

students read it aloud).

EXPLAIN

Presentation of the outputs shall be given to each

group.

Processing questions:
1. Have you ever wondered where the
electricity in our power outlet comes
from?
2. Why are we asked to always conserve
electricity?

The teacher will show some pictures and let the

students name each one of it.

Geothermal energy is the heat obtained from

underneath the earth and carried to the surface as
steam.

Hydrothermal energy is the process of obtaining

heat or energy from a large body of water.

Biogas is produced by the anaerobic

decomposition of organic materials brought about
by certain varieties of bacteria.

Biomass is any organic matter available on a

renewable basis. The biomass of wood is burned
directly to provide heat and energy.

Fossil fuel power plants burn coal or oil to create

heat which is in turn used to generate steam to
drive turbines which generate electricity.

Batteries are voltaic cells that undergo

electrochemical processes to produce electrical
energy.

Solar cells are usually used for powering homes.

Sunlight is directly converted to electrical energy.

ELABORATE

The teacher will give the names of energy sources

and each student will identify whether it falls
under the renewable or non-renewable sources.

Now, what does renewable means?

Very good!

Renewable resources are any natural resources

that replaces at the same rate on which the
resource is used.

The renewable resources are Biogas, Geothermal

energy, Hydrothermal, Solar cells, and Biomass.

What does non-renewable resources means?

Exactly! It cannot be renewed, so, these energy

sources will eventually run out.

Again, what are the non-renewable resources?

Very Good!
That is the reason why we are always asked to
conserve our electricity.

EVALUATE

Direction:
Read each question carefully then write
the letter of the correct answer.

1. Which of the following best describe

renewable resources?
a. Substances that can be regrown or
replaced over a period of time.
b. Resources that can be used quickly and
cannot be replaced.
c. Anything that can be found outdoor.
d. Materials that can be recycled.
2. Which of the following natural resources
are usually used by powering homes
especially in remote areas?
a. Biogas
b. Biomass
c. Fossil fuel
d. Solar cells
3. It refers to the process of obtaining heat or
energy from a large body of water.
a. Biomass
b. Fossil fuel
c. Geothermal
d. Hydrothermal
4. Any organic materials that are burned
directly to provide heat and energy are
called___.
a. Biogas
b. Biomass
c. Fossil fuel
d. Solar cells
5. It is produced by the anaerobic
decomposition of organic materials
brought about by certain varieties of
bacteria.
a. Biogas
b. Biomass
c. Fossil fuel
d. Solar cells

EXTEND

houses, transportation, machines and technology,
make a vlog using your phone on how to preserve
all our natural resources.
