GRADE 11!
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray.
Oh God, you instructed the hearts of your faithful
By the light of the Holy Spirit,
Grant us with the same Spirit
To be truly wise and rejoice in his constellation
Through Christ our Lord

The Philippines has a high
vulnerability to natural hazards
which are attributed to the nation‟s
geographic position in Southeast
Asia.
Natural Disasters such as
typhoons , earthquakes, floods,
volcanic eruptions, landslides and
fires affect the country.
30
Volcanic eruptions and tsunamis
are related to the continental
plate activity around the “Ring of
Fire”. This is a circular arm of
active volcanoes that surrounds
the Pacific Ocean basin.

Disaster
32
Displaced Populations
▰ A large influx of
refugees can disrupt
accessibility of health
care and education,
as well as food
supplies and clean
water. 33
Health Risks
▰ Severe flooding can result in stagnant
water that allows breeding of
waterborne bacteria and malaria-
carrying mosquitoes. Dengue fever is
another serious health problem
caused by mosquitoes (aegis egypti).
Without emergency relief from
international danger has passed.
34
Food Scarcity
▰ After natural disasters, food often becomes
scarce. Thousands of people around the world
go hungry as a result of destroyed crops and loss
of agricultural supplies, whether it happens
suddenly in a storm or gradually in a drought.
