Course Description Purposive Communication is three units course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and
intercultural awareness through multi-modal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to
a multicultural audience in a local and global context. It is about writing, speaking and presenting to different audiences and for various
purposes. It equips students with tools for critical evaluation of a variety of texts and focuses on the power of language and the
impact of images to emphasize the importance of conveying messages responsibility.

Course Outcomes It is one way to develop their communication skills, which they can use in other subjects and in their chosen career which is teaching.
This can also develop their written skills and confidence in communicating locally and internationally and become a globally
competitive.

Grading Systems Grades are computed using the following formula:

Grade = raw score / tot al no. of items 50+ 50
The term grade is computed using the formula:
40% Performance(Portfolio, projects,demonstration teaching. )

30% Major Exam Grade
30% Assignment/Attendance/ Quiz Grade
Midterm Grade = I00% of the Midterm Grade
Final Grade = 50% of the Midterm Grade + 50% of the Final Term Grade
Classroom Policies 1. Regular attendance is expected. Should there be absence, students must present excuse letters stating the reason.
2. Students must be seated according to seat plan.
3. Everyone must observe professional behavior and civil discourse throughout class time. Leaving the room other than to
attend to emergencies and personal necessities is discourages.
4. Furthermore, cellphones and other gadgets have to be in silent mode to discourage their use during class hours except when
they are used as an educational tool.
