Big Idea: Children will be able to read phonetically


Learning Objective: To recall and say aloud the phonic sound of the letter ‘k’ and name few objects
beginning with the letter ‘k’ from the story

Methodology: Story Read Aloud using props (10mins) Cross - curricular links:
The teacher will use the Jolly phonic story of letter k using Music: Letter k (Jolly Phonics song)

Mark Making Area: Children will be provided with chart papers, cling wrap, crayons, chalk, paint and
brushes. They will do scribbling, doodling and painting activities.

Malleable Area: In this area, children will have the opportunity to use different tactile materials e.g. corn
flour, playdough, clay, foam, pasta, oats, cutter, rolling pin etc. Here they will use their senses to explore
and develop fine motor skills. Children will create letter t using play dough.

Plenary (15 mins): k letter cards and picture cards will be placed on the floor. Children will hop on it one
by one and name the picture emphasizing on the beginning sound of it.

Home Task:
Children will be asked to bring letter k objects from home. They will speak a few lines about it.
Process Success Criteria:

 Naming few objects of k
 Creating k objects
