TEACH ON: KEEPING THE PASSION ALIVE

Professional Reflection

Accordingly, the noblest profession in this world is ‘teaching’. No one would become a professional without
learning from his teacher. It is the teacher who nurtures the mind of a child and it is the teacher who works hard just to
give quality instruction to his learners. Amidst the personal issues encountered by a teacher, he continues to do his
duty. He never gets tired of inspiring and motivating a child for he believes that every learner has a potential to excel
in some aspects. He believes that only education can transform their lives from rugs to riches. It is only education that
would uplift the country from being doomed.
Being chosen as one of the scholars of one of the programs of NEAP-Recognized Professional Development
Program which is “Teach On: Keeping the Passion Alive” was a great opportunity being opened to me for I was able
to reflect on the roles that a teacher should uphold in spite of the circumstances that a teacher might encounter. In this
program I was able to hear and see some of the great teachers around the Philippines. I thought I was the only one who
has been struggling from teaching but I was wrong. My experiences were nothing compared to them. My complaints
and sentiments were just too shallow. I was amazed and even moved by the experiences by my co-learners in this
program. I could not imagine myself braving waves, mountains, rivers and even hazardous areas just to educate
learners settled in a far-flung location. These situations of them did not stop them from extending services and even
giving their lives just to give light to those children who have been living in their darkest lives. The photos being
shared by them had gave me so much reflections that no matter how hard the situation is, a teacher should serve as
teacher because that is his purpose – to live with legacy.
It is indeed a great program for those teachers whose fires are about to get off. This kind of opportunity
shouldn’t be wasted because this is worth the time of every learner who is enrolled in this development program. It’s
my loss for not being able to finish my journey for I could no longer open my portal in MOOC. As much as I wanted
to continue, I wasn’t given a second chance. However, the few learnings that I have learned will not go in vain. The
stories that had shared by my co-teachers around the Philippines will forever be remembered. When times would get
rough, I would just recall those stories of them and surely my days would be lightened up. I wish I could attend more
programs like this. Teaching is not just a profession, it is an air that makes all human alive.
