A Seed of Hope
by: Mary Joyce A. Dela Cruz
Pandemic created a big impact in everyone’s life. People lost their jobs, end
up their businesses and even had a problem how to provide food for the family.
This scenario is same with the people of Mandili. Most of the families can’t
provide food in their tables. Since the pandemic started, people had a hard time
feeding the members of the family. Konsehal Ronnie “Kambal” Sangcap tried to find
a solution on how he can help the people of Mandili. He asked for the Local
Government Unit (LGU) to donate seeds that he can give to everyone. Konsehal
Ronnie thought that in this way every Mandilian can plant seeds to their backyards
that will eventually converted to food. LGU of Candaba responded to Konshehal
Ronnie’s plea to help the people of Mandili. They allocated seeds in each bag
containing, ¼ seeds of pechay, 3/8 seeds of ampalaya, ½ seeds talong, 1/5 seeds of
kamatis and ¾ seeds of sili. Just a few months after, the families reap the fruit of
their labor.
The pandemic made a big impact on people’s lives. Most of the Mandilians
who worked in the city went home because of unemployment and scarcity. These
people immediately asked for the barangay’s help on how they can sustain their
income and daily consumption on food. These blue-collar workers want to have an
alternative option in finding an income to support the family.
When Kapitana Victoria knew their problems, she immediately thinks of a
solution that will help the unemployed people of Mandili. She suggested that she can
provide her unoccupied plantation and fish ponds to these people temporarily. She
has a triangular piece of land that can be planted with rice, root crops and other
vegetables. The land has three sides, the longest side measures 24 meters, the
second one measure 20 meters and the shortest is 18 meters. Mr. Buddy Pamintuan
got the longest side because of the number of his family members. He had a hard
time providing income to his family because of his children who are in college. The
second one, was issued to Mr. Max De Leon who was not able to drive his jeep
during pandemic and the last side was provided to Mr. Jayson De Jesus who was
fired to his work as a factory worker.
After 3 months they were able to reap the fruit of their labor. They can now
serve food from the crops they planted a few months ago.

eskwelahan.
