SUPERVISING INSTRUCTOR
I. OBJECTIVES
During the discussion, pupils are expected to;
a. identify multiples of a given number;
b. appreciate the use of math in different aspects of life; and
c. solve whole numbers in finding multiples.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: Multiples

Reference: Exploring Math Possibilities (page 24-28))
Materials: flash cards, PPT, chalk

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activity
1. Drill
The teacher will show flashcards that contains multiplications and let the
students to answer.
2. Review
The Teacher will give a short recap about the last topic which is the
factors.
Q. What are the factors of 12?
A. 1x12 = 12
2x6 =12
3x4 = 12
12 is divisible by 1, 2,3,4,6 and 12. Therefore, the factors of 12 are
1, 2,3,4,6, and 12.

3. Motivation
The teacher will present a word search puzzle and the students will
find words that are related to mathematics.
Z P N R V Z E P H

E M U L T I P L Y

R N M F A C T O R

O Q B M S X I D W

F A E T U R I F G

A P R O D U C T T

- ZERO
- MULTIPLY
- FACTOR
- NUMBER
- PRODUCT
B. Developmental Activity
1. Presentation of the lesson
The Teacher will present the new topic which is all about the multiples.
a. Setting of standard
The Teacher will present the behavioral chart that the students must follow
during the discussion.

BEHAVIORAL CHART

The student participates and displays a good 5 points

attitude toward learning.

The student participates, but a little disturbing 3 points

sometimes.

The student participates, but did not show good 2 points

attitude towards learning.

2. Discussion of Examples
The Teacher will discuss about the multiple. A multiple is a product of a
number and any whole number.
Observe:
Example number 1. List the first ten multiples of 3.
3x0 = 0 3x6 = 18
3x1 = 3 3x7 = 21
3x2 = 6 3x8 = 24
3x3 = 9 3x9 = 27
3x4 = 12
3x5 = 15

0, 3, 6, 9,12,15,18, 21, 24, 27 are the first 10 multiples of 3.

If you keep multiplying 3 by any whole number, you will
always get another result. The list will never end.

Example number 2: List the first 10 nonzero multiples of 3.

3x1 = 3 3x6 = 18
3x2 = 6 3x7 = 21
3x3 = 9 3x8 = 24
3x4 = 12 3x9 = 27
3x5 =15 3x10 = 30
3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30 are the first 10 nonzero multiples
of 3.
3. Comparison and Abstraction
Remember:
1. We get a series of multiples by multiplying the given number
by other number.

2. The given number and other number are the factors of the
product we call a multiple.
3. Zero is a multiple of every number. But zero is not a factor of
any number except zero.

4. The multiples of any number, is a set of numbers that does

not end.

Zero is a multiple of every number. This is because zero times any

number is zero. However, the number itself is usually referred to as the
"first" number in the list.

In the example number 1. The first number that was multiplied to the given
number was zero. While in the second example, the first number that was
multiplied to the given number was the 1. It is because a nonzero multiple
is any multiple that is not zero and the smallest multiple of a non- zero
number is the number itself.

C. Concluding Activities
1. Generalization
The Teacher will ask question about the discussion.
#1. What is a multiple?
#2. What is a nonzero multiple?
2. Application
The Teacher will let the students find the multiples of the following:
Find the first 3 multiples of the following:
1. 7 ____,____,____
2. 9 ____,____,____
3. 12____,____,____
4. 15____,____,____
5. 8 ____,_____,____
Find the first 3 nonzero multiples of the following:
6. 20 ____,____,_____
7. 13 ____,____,_____
8. 11 ____,____,_____
9. 50 ____,____,_____
10. 21 ___,____,_____
IV. EVALUATION
Direction: Answer the following:

1. List the first 3 multiples of 16 ____,____,____

2. List the numbers that are multiples of 7

1 7 14 17 21 27 35

3. list the numbers that are multiples of 8

38 40 45 49 64 72
