PART 1. EVALUATE
Explain the usage of tank calibration tables.
The usage of tank calibration tables is developed by recognized industry methods that represent volumes in
each tank according to the liquid (innage) or empty space (ullage) measured in the tank. Furthermore, the
tables are entered with linear measurements such as feet, inches, meters, centimeters to obtain calibrated
volumes like barrels, cubic meters, or cubic feet.

Differentiate deadweight from displacement tonnages.

Deadweight is explicitly defined as the difference in tones between the displacements of a ship in water of a
specific gravity of 1.025 (corresponding to average density of sea water) at the draft corresponding to the
assigned summer freeboard and the light displacement (lightweight) of the ship. Whereas in displacement
tonnage, it is the weight based on the amount of water its hull displaces at varying loads. It is measured
indirectly using Archimedes' principle by first calculating the volume of water displaced by the ship then
converting that value into weight displaced.

How can you determine the loaded or discharged weight by using hydrostatic table?
By taking the mean draft of the vessel and refer to the hydrostatic table to get its displacement. Now that
the displacement of the whole vessel is found, the next step is to find out all non-cargo deductibles on
board and this consists mostly of fuel, water, and water ballast.

PART 2. EXTEND
What would most likely happen if you do not take cargo expansion allowance in consideration?
From my own perspective, while voyaging during the journey the cargo temperature will rise and because of
it the ullage space must be left to allow, with safety, and also increased the volume of cargo resulting from
expansion.

Explain the importance of loadline.

The importance of loadline is to ensure the safety and limitations on the vessel’s freeboard from the
waterline to the main deck. Also, loadline indicates information when it comes to different weathers such as
fresh, tropical summer, winter, and winter, North Atlantic by using the Plimsoll line and deck line that can
be found exactly at amidships. In freeboard, it is also had the form like weathertight and watertight
integrity. On the other hand, it is the lines that indicate the greatest depth to which the ship may be loaded
under various circumstances and in different seasons.
