Requirements for Assignment:
1. Find an ad that you like or one that you hate. Ones that use humour or crazy
circumstances work really well for a project like this. (You can also create me
your own ad if you’d like).
a. The ad can be from a magazine, a digital image, a video, an audio clip,
etc. Just have a way to show it to me either physically or link me on
google classroom.
2. Analyze the ad and give me a write-up including the following information:
a. What is the main idea of the ad? Every ad has a purpose…what’s this
one?
b. What is the tone of the ad? Is it serious? Funny? Sarcastic? Think
personality traits!
c. Break the ad into parts – how much space is given to each? What is
the thing that catches your eye most? Why do you think that is?

Tips for finding an ad:


• Superbowl ads are a great source for funny video ads – try searching on
youtube
• Try searching google images for humorous ads, bandwagon ads, nostalgia
ads
• Keep an eye out on your social media for ads that you like
