I write this letter in recommendation for Rachele Smith as she applies for a teaching position in your
school. I have had the pleasure of serving as a mentor teacher to Ms. Smith during her 80-hr teacher
assisting semester during the winter of 2022. Ms. Smith spent 4 months with me in my 6th grade science
classroom at Riley Street Middle School.

As a teacher assistant, Ms. Smith was professional, prompt, and prepared. She went out of her way to
learn the lessons and material and carried them out well. Ms. Smith was responsive to student needs,
developed and used her own formative assessment techniques, and sought to reach all students. Ms. Smith
looked for feedback, both from me and the students as she grew in her teaching. She wants to grow and
improve and is receptive to advice and suggestions.

During her time at RSMS, Ms. Smith developed an excellent rapport with my students and built
relationships quickly. She found a way to talk to and interact with students of all backgrounds and
interests, and I think found a special relationship with those students who would otherwise fly under the
radar. My students miss having Ms. Smith in the classroom for her humor, kindness, and teaching skill.

I hold Ms. Smith in the highest regard and encourage you to consider her for your teaching position. She
