Declaration: By submitting this assessment (Parts 1 – 4) for marking I declare that it is entirely my own work. I understand that falsely claiming that
the work is my own is malpractice and can lead to NEBOSH imposing severe penalties (see the NEBOSH Malpractice Policy for further information).
Important note: You must refer to the document ‘Unit IG2: risk assessment – Guidance and information for learners and Learning Partners’ while
completing all parts of this assessment. Your Learning Partner should provide you with a copy, but it can also be downloaded from the relevant
resources section for this qualification on the NEBOSH website.
Part 1: Background
Tagros Chemicals does a lot of production of hazardous & poisonous pesticide chemicals such as
Permethrin, Fipronil, HCL, H2So4, Na2So3, Cl, NH3 etc…
The workers are engaged working activities in Production of Chemicals, Plant Maintenance &
General description of the organisation Machineries, Utility operations, QA, QC, R&D etc…It involves working Equipment’s & Plants of

Specific legal arguments The ILO sets out an Occupational Safety and Health Recommendation, 1981 (R164) that
supplements convection (C155). Part IV of the Recommendation states that undertaking

Specific legal arguments According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Tagros chemicals has moral duty to
provide safe work environment to workers & also make sure that processes are reasonably safe. As
per specific set of regulations – Work at Height Regulations 2005,
• “The person who working at height, health conditions of individual to be monitored”.
Emergency rescue procedure should be readily available. The ILO codes of practice gives specific
advice on the measures, that employers must to protect workers against risks identified by a risk
assessment. Tagros chemicals should compliance with these regulations and standards. Failure to
follow these standards leads to repercussions, including workmen compensation.
Consideration of likelihood AND severity LIKELIHOOD:
The likelihood of incidents caused the work at height is very likely, because Tagros Chemicals has
more columns & tower maintenance works which has a potential to cause injuries to workers. Due
SEVERITY:
The severity of risks occurring could be major. Because if the workers may fall from height it leads
to irreversible disability or fatality and also ends up in repercussions. Impact of incidents considered
as negligible, minor, major, moderate and severe.
• Negligible - No medical treatment,
• Minor - Objective but reversible disability,
• Moderate - Irreversible disability,
• Major - Single fatality or severe irreversible disability,
• Severe - Multiple fatalities.
SEVERITY:
The severity of risk occurring could be Major, if workers exposed to toxic gas which may leads to
unexpected incident and accident on workplace with series injuries or disabilities.
In Case of any modification, changes in process, technology, updating legal requirements need to
review risk assessment as per plan:
How the risk assessment findings will be HOW THE RISK ASSESSMENT FINDINGS WILL BE COMMUNICATED:
communicated AND who you need to tell
I will arrange meeting with the unit head & the general manager to go through the risk assessment
& recommendation or actions given on risk assessment. I will provide summary of further actions
required and justification for those actions. I will explain about importance of risk assessment,
identified control measures to concern manager of chlorine chemical plant.
I will ask the concern manager to explain those actions to all workers and contract person in
upcoming toolbox talks. I will also advice the workers on the action that are to be taken. Special
training, refreshment training (video & audio) conduct for workers in their own language. A
summary of risk assessment & control actions will be posted on the company intranet and notice
boards, bulletin boards and power point presentations.
Weekly once meetings will be conducted with responsible person to find out work progress of each
action. Based on meetings, required resources like man power, material, fund allocation will be
