ACTIVITY GUIDELINES
A. DECLAMATION
1. The contestants shall either be Grade 5 or Grade 6
2. A declamation piece shall be provided by the teacher deliverable in 5-7 minutes.
3. Contestants shall memorize the piece and present on the culminating activity.
4. The contestants shall wear appropriate costume and shall use props whenever
necessary.
5. The contestants will be judged using the following criteria.
Mastery of the piece 40%
Delivery 20%
Gestures and facial Expressions 20%
Overall Performance 20%
TOTAL 100%
B. READERS’ THEATER
1. Each grade level from Grade 3 to Grade 6 shall have a number of participants of
a maximum of 10 learners.
2. The contest piece will be given by the English teacher for a maximum of 3-5
minutes.
3. The order of the presentation shall determine through a drawing of lots on
culminating activity.
4. The team shall wear school uniform during the presentation.
5. The contest piece shall be placed in short size with grade level color of choice.
Each member of the team shall be provided one folder.
6. The contestants will be judged using the following criteria.
Voice Projection 50%
( clarity, volume, pitch, phrasing, intonation)
Mastery 30%
(read words correctly, readiness to speak)
Stage Performance 20%
(personality of character, facial expressions,
Hand and body gestures, eye contact with
Audience)
TOTAL 100%
C. SPEECH CHOIR
1. Each grade level from Grade 3 to Grade 6 shall have a number of participants with a
minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 members.
2. There shall be one contest piece “ PEACE NOT WAR” by Patricia Lithuanian to be
recited with vocal and other effects in 5- 7 minutes, including entrance and exit.
3. The order of the presentation shall determine through a drawing of lots on
culminating activity.
4. A -1 point deduction shall be made for every 1 minute excess during the
performance.
5. Members of the choir shall wear and use costumes, props, and others whenever
appropriate.
6. The contestants will be judged using the following criteria.
Delivery 35%
(quality of voice, fluency, pronunciation
blending, and harmony)
Interpretation 30%
(way the piece is internalized and presented)
Stage Presence 25%
(stage poise, eye contact, and audience
Impact)
Costume, Props 10%
( attire relevant to the concept)
TOTAL 100%
D. POSTER MAKING
1. The contest is open to all bonafide Grade 5-6, Junior High School and Senior High
School Students – solo.
2. The poster must be sketched on a 1/8 illustration board. The use of coloring
materials is allowed.
3. Entries must not contain foul, offensive, or inappropriate images or
presentations.
Theme: “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities in Sustaining Excellence”
4. The contestants will be judged using the following criteria.
Content - 40%
Originality - 40%
Overall Visual - 20%
Total - 100%
E. SLOGAN WRITING
1. The contest is open to all bonafide Junior High School and Senior High School
Students – solo.
2. The slogan must be written in a 1/8 illustration board.
3. Entries must not contain foul, offensive or inappropriate image or presentation.
Theme: “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities in Sustaining Excellence”
4. The contestants will be judged using the following criteria.
Relevance to the theme - 30%
Originality - 25%
Creativity - 20%
Grammatical and
Typographical error free - 10%
Visual Impact - 15%
Total - 100%
F. ESSAY WRITING
1. The contest is open to all grade 6 - 12 students.
2. Essays will be written on the spot in (200 words in secondary )
Theme: “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities in Sustaining Excellence”
3. Time allotment is one hour.
4. Decision of the board of judges shall be final and irrevocable.
5. Only the op 3 will be awarded as winners.
Criteria for judging:
Originality and communication - 40%
Content - 40%
Mechanics - 20%

G. ORATION ( JHS)
1. Every section must have at least one (1) representative in this event.
2. A contest piece is entitled “I AM THE YOUTH OF TODAY”.
3. Contestants should wear their school uniform.
Criteria for judging:
Delivery - 40%
(articulation, Enunciation,audience
contact/ rapport, stage behavior,
mastery)
Voice Quality/ Voice Projection - 30%
Mastery of Piece - 30%
