1. T will go over what synonyms and antonyms are to the
whole class.
2. T will put students into pairs.
3. In pairs, students will provide 2 examples of: synonyms
and antonyms.
IWB Activity 1: Matching synonyms (10-12 minutes)

Objective 6.4b
1. T will have students remain in their pairs
2. T will bring up the activity on the promethean board,
and it is the activity where students will touch the board
to match two words with similar meanings and learn
about synonyms to expand their vocabulary.
3. T will explain the instructions to the student:
A. Students will match TWO WORDS with
similar meaning on top of the two
flowers.
B. If it is correct the words will go up onto
the hive. Which is at the top of the
screen.
4. T will demonstrate the activity to the class by pairing
two words on the screen.
5. T will call up each pair at time to come to the board to
match two words.
6. After one pair matches TWO WORDS, the next pair
goes up to the promethean board.
7. This goes on until all the words on the board are
matched up.
IWB Activity 2: Sorting Between Bad and Good Words (15
minutes)

Objective 6.4b
1. T will instruct students to go back to their seats.
2. T will brings up the second activity onto the promethean
board, and it should be the one with the pirates.
3. T will explain the instructions to the students:
A. There is a group of words in
the middle of the screen.
B. On the left is a ship labeled
“good” and the right ship is
labeled “bad”
C. Students will sort between
words with a good and bad
meanings.
4. T will demonstrate by sorting a word with a good
meaning and sorting a word with a bad meaning.
5. T will have students raise their hand to come up to the
board and sort the words.
D. To sort, bring the word to the
ship. The word should
disappear if it is correct.
6. T will keep calling on the students until all words are
sorted.

goes up and spins the wheel.
B. There will be a question and
the students will have to
identify the type of figurative
language. The group will get
points if the question is
answered correctly.
C. When the student is finished,

board, and does the same
thing.
D. The Groups take turns
alternatively going up to the
board.
E. The game goes on until each
student in both group has gone
up to the board.
F. The group with the most points
wins!

their choice.
