My presentation

Hello! Good Afternoon!

My name is Joao Ferreira, I'm 43 (forty three)years old, Married and father of two
children.
I live in Casal de São Joao, a small village south of Coimbra about 7 kilometers away.
I work in the sapadores de coimbra fire company since 1998.(nineteen, ninety eight).

In my job, as a professional firefighter, I drive the various firefighters vehicles, pre-

hospital emergency (first responder) and recently team leader. With twenty-three years
of service, the most striking situations are those involving children and young people

I really like what I do, because it requires a lot of creativity and the work is not
monotonous. Training is a constant reality and ending compulsory education brings the
opportunity to progress in one's career.

In my free time i dedicate it to my favorite hobbies: family and friends, agriculture,

running and bricolage.

Technical equipment
One piece of equipment I use in forest fires is the chainsaw. In fact, I had to do the
training “Constitution, operation, maintenance of the chainsaw and Safety / PPE
standards and use of the chainsaw in emergency situations” in order to know how to use
it. With this training I learned and I was empowered with practical knowledge for the
correct use of the chainsaw in forest maintenance and emergency operations, respecting
the SHST and environmental protection standards, and the maintenance and
conservation operations necessary for a safe, efficient and effective work 

Environment and sustainability

When I was a child, I used to pick fruit from trees and  vegetables  from
the vegetable garden to cook the daily meals, especially soup and no ingredient
was missing  to cook a delicious soup at that time. Nowadays I continue to have
those habits. In my backyard, I plant for example: sweet potatoes, lettuce,
tomatoes, courgette, beetroot, pumpkin, in a space of about 300 square meters. After
using those vegetables in my meals, I keep the vegetables peels and I  put them into a
pot and leave it to decompose, which I then use as fertilizer. I keep the habit of planting
as it is a way to keep the space clean. When I think about my childhood years, I don't
remember going to dump solid waste so often. Today there are too many packages,
mainly plastic that takes a lot of years to disappear! These are small gestures that make
a difference.

 At political level, the 2021 Glasgow summit decided the goals to achieve, but I don’t

think they will mean significant changes to countries with the highest emission of
greenhouse gases. Nor do I think that electric vehicles are the solution, on the contrary,
the exploitation of ore, namely lithium, but above all, the deposit of end-of-life batteries
I think will create new problems. So, with the price of fuels increasing daily, I ride the
bicycle, which has many advantages: it’s a  it’s non-pollutant,  ecological means of
transportation, allows me to do  physical exercise, and  it’s a hobby!

In other words, this technologically developed world makes use of modern

communication and work technologies, as real tools and citizen control. A small piece
of plastic with an embedded chip contains a series of cadastral information about each
one of us and that, with the new digital devices, security, police and other authorities
can easily identify us. A real world where we are incorporated by the so-called digital
algorithm, from the binary sequence (0, 1), of the computer and there it is, we are
numbers with a name to follow.
