Bonifacio Global City
- James Patrick Ladesma -
How would you describe your city?
• Located in Taguig, Metro Manila, the Philippines, Bonifacio Global City—
also referred to as BGC, Global City, or The Fort—is a financial and
residential area. 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) south-east of Manila's downtown is
where it is situated. The selling of military land by the Bases Conversion and
Development Authority led to increased business activity in the area
(BCDA). When the Philippine Army's main camp was in operation, the
entire district was included.
• Clean, contemporary, and safe for strolling—a fantastic area to hang out.
Additionally, you can pick the style of restaurant you want to try.
What is your city known for?
• BGC, a renowned international business and residential hub, is home to a
wide variety of opulent shopping malls, restaurants, residential
condominiums, business offices, and leisure facilities. The following are the
reasons people frequent the fort.
• The BGC area can be regarded as a sight by itself and conceivably the most
pedestrian-friendly area of Metro Manila thanks to its modern skyscrapers,
displays of contemporary architecture, wide walkways, street art, and
numerous mixed-use developments containing cafes, restaurants, and shops.
What makes your city a global city?
• Bonifacio Global City provides urban residents with a variety of activities
that support a sustainable way of life while also providing modern
conveniences. One notable illustration is the orderly grid-style urban
planning of BGC, which makes it a very bike- and pedestrian-friendly city.
• BGC, a highly urbanized business and commercial neighborhood, contains a
variety of office buildings, homes, and shops. On Bonifacio High Street sits
the PSE Tower, home to the Philippine Stock Exchange. Both residents and
visitors enjoy first-rate service and lodgings that fit every budget.
What were the effects of Covid19 in this city?

• According to the city government, those who have tested positive for the
respiratory virus and those who are PUMs (persons under monitoring) or
PIRs will receive the basic necessities.
• In the case of a strengthened community quarantine, "strict home quarantine
shall be implemented in all households; transportation shall be suspended;
provision for food and essential services shall be regulated; and aheightened
presence of uniformed personnel to enforce quarantine procedures will be
implemented."
How did it manage the impact of Covid19?

• To stop the spread of pathogens in Taguig, subnational government units'

responses are crucial. Through its Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious
Diseases, the national government of the Philippines outlined various quarantine
measures with varying degrees of rigidity, from allowing all establishments to
operate at a certain capacity to keeping only the essential businesses open. This was
done in order to lessen the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
• In order to provide point-to-point services and community pick-up and drop-off
areas for those who cannot access supplies in their immediate areas, the government
is also collaborating with transportation organizations and barangays.
