UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL

1. The present simple tense ( Thì hiện tại đơn )

a. Form

* Tobe: is, am, are

(+) S + is/ am/ are + O/ N.

(-) S + isn't/ am not/ aren't + O/ N.

(?) Is/ Are + S + O/ N ?

Yes, S + is/ am/ are.

No, S + isn't/ aren't/ am not.

Ex. She (be) is twelve years old.

Ex. I (not be) am not in Vung Tau.

Ex. Is she (be) twelve years old?->Yes, she (be) is.

* Normal verb (động từ thường):

(+) S + V(s, es) + O

Ex.He ( live) lives in Con Dao.

They (live) live in Con Dao.

(-) S + don't/ doesn't + V + O

Ex.He ( not live) doesn't live in Long Son.

They (not live) don't live in Con Dao.

(?) Do/ Does + S + V + O?


Yes, S + do/ does. -No, S + don't/ doesn't.

Ex. Does He (live) live in Con Dao?

Do They (live) live in Long Son?

Usage (cách dùng): Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để diễn đạt một hành động mang tính thường xuyên,
thói quen hoặc hành động lặp đi lặp lại có tính quy luật.

b. Dấu hiệu nhận biết của thì hiện tại đơn:

- Trạng từ chỉ tần suất: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, seldom, never.

- Các trạng từ chỉ thời gian: every + time (every day), today, nowadays, Sundays.

2. The present continuous tense (Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn)

a. Form

(+) S + tobe(am/ is/ are) + V-ing

(- ) S + tobe + not (‘m not/ isn’t/ aren’t) + V-ing

(?) Tobe + S + V-ing…?

Yes, S + tobe(am/ is/ are).- No, S + tobe + not (‘m not/ isn’t/ aren’t)

b. Usage (cách dùng): Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn dùng để diễn tả 1 hành động đang xảy ra tại thời điểm
nói.

c. Dấu hiệu nhận biết của thì hiện tại tiếp diễn:

 Adverbs: now, at the moment, at present, right now


 Verbs: Look! Watch!/ Listen!/ Be (careful/ quiet)!
 Answer questions with “Where”

UNIT 2: MY HOME

1. There is.... / there are.... (có)

a. There is + danh từ số ít/ danh từ không đếm được

(+) There is + a/ an + n (danh từ số ít)/ (danh từ không đếm được) + (in/ on/ at..... + place).

Ex. There is a book on the table./There is some milk in the bottle.

(-) There isn't + a/ an + n (danh từ số ít)/ (danh từ không đếm được) + (in/ on/ at..... + place).

Ex. There isn't a knife on the table./There isn't some coffee in the cup.
(?) Is + there + a/an + n (danh từ số ít)/ (danh từ không đếm được) + (in/ on/ at..... + place)?

Yes, there is/ No, there isn't.

Ex. Is there a knife on the table? Yes, there is.

b. There are + danh từ số nhiều

(+) There are + ns (danh từ số nhiều)+ (in/ on/ at..... + place).

Ex. There are books on the table.

(-) There aren’t + ns (danh từ số nhiều)+ (in/ on/ at..... + place).

Ex. There aren’t knives on the table.

(?) Are + there + + ns (danh từ số nhiều)+ (in/ on/ at..... + place)?

Yes, there are/ No, there aren’t.

Ex. Are there knives on the table? Yes, there are./ No, there aren’t

2. Prepositions of place (các giới từ chỉ nơi chốn)

In front of: phía trước, Behind: Đằng sau, Between: ở giữaAcross from/ opposite: Đối
diện với…/Next to/ beside: kế bên/ Near/ close to: Gần đó (nó có ý nghĩa giống với next to/
beside nhưng giữa hai vật thể này có một khoảng cách nhất định)/On: Ở trên/ In: Ở trong/ At: Ở….
Under/ below: Ở dưới, thấp hơn cái gì đó/ From: từ nơi nào đó

3. Sở hữu cách

-Sở hữu cách của danh từ số ít và danh từ riêng: thêm ’s sau danh từ

Ví dụ: Lan’s book( sách của Lan), the student’s pen( viết của học sinh)

-Tính từ sở hữu:

I-my, He-his, She-her, They-their, We-our, You –your, It-its

Ví dụ: his car (ô tô của anh ấy), my family (gia đình của tôi)

UNIT 3: MY FRIENDS

1. Describe appearance with "be" (miêu tả hình dáng với "be")

Ex. He is tall and handsome.

3. The present continuous for future ( Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn diễn tả ý tương lai)

- Cấu trúc và cách sử dụng xem lại bài 1.

- Ngoài những cách dùng cơ bản của thì HTTD đã giới thiệu ở bài 1, chúng ta còn dùng thì này để nói
về kế hoạch hoặc dự định trong tương lai.

Dấu hiệu nhận biết: today, tonight, this( Sunday, week, month….)

Ex: Tonight, my best friend is having a party in her house.

They aren't coming here this weekend.

* Chú ý: Chúng ta còn dùng cấu trúc "be going to + V" (sẽ làm gì) để nói về dự định trong tương lai
gần.

Ex. He is going to work in England next month.

I and my mother are going to Da Lat for vacation.

UNIT 4: MY NEIGHBORHOOD

1. Comparative ( so sánh hơn)


- So sánh hơn với tính từ ngắn( short adj)
S1 +AM/IS/ARE +SHORT ADJ + ER+ THAN +S2
Ví dụ: tall-> taller, short-> shorter….
Lưu ý:
-tính từ hai âm tiết kết thúc bằng “y” thì coi như tính từ ngắn, trước khi chuyển sang so sánh
hơn, đổi “y” thành “i” rồi thêm “er”
Ví dụ: funny-> funnier, happy-> happier
- tính từ hai âm tiết kết thúc bằng: “et”, “er”, “ow” coi như tính từ ngắn
Ví dụ: narrower, cleverer…
- So sánh hơn với tính từ dài ( long adj)
S1 +AM/IS/ARE +MORE +LONG ADJ + THAN +S2
Ví dụ: expensive-> more expensive, beatiful-> more beatiful…..

UNIT 5: NATURAL WONDERS IN VIET NAM

1. DANH TỪ ĐẾM ĐƯỢC VÀ DANH TỪ KHÔNG ĐẾM ĐƯỢC


-Danh từ đếm được (countable nouns): là danh từ chỉ người hay vật , chúng ta có thể
dùng số để đếm. Có hai dạng số ít: a book, an apple, one chair, one watch…. và số nhiều:
books, apples, chairs, watches
Hỏi và trả lời về số lượng với danh từ đếm được

Trả lời
Numbers( 1,2…) N (s)
some= a few (một vài)
a lot of= many (nhiều)
Ví dụ:
How many books are there?
-> There is one book/ there are some books.
How many apples do you need?
-> I need a lot of apples.
-Danh từ không đếm được (Uncountable nouns): là danh từ chỉ vật , chúng ta không thể
dùng số để đếm. Không có dạng số ít hay nhiều: ví dụ: “a water” hay “waters” là sai, đúng là:
“water”
Hỏi và trả lời về số lượng với danh từ không đếm được

Trả lời
some= a little (một ít) N (s)
a lot of= much (nhiều)

Ví dụ:
How much coffee is there?
-> There is a little coffee/ there is a lot of coffee.
How much chocolate do you need?
-> I need some chocolate.
2. MUST/ MUSTN’T
- MUST (PHẢI): Dùng cho những việc rất rất quan trọng, cần thiết, bắt buộc
- MUSTN’T (CẤM): khi không được phép làm gì đó
I / you
He / she / it/ …….. must/ mustn’t + V……
You / we / they/ ……..
Ví dụ:
You must keep silent.

You mustn’t use cellphones.


UNIT 6:

1. Advice (Lời khuyên):

Khuyên nên làm gì S +should +verb………..

Khuyên không nên làm gì S +shouldn’t +verb………..

Ví dụ:

You should eat more vegetable.

You shouldn’t drink beer.

2. Some / any for amount:

Some và any: đi với cả danh từ đếm được và không đếm được. Tuy nhiên “some” dùng trong
câu khẳng định, “Any” dùng trong câu hỏi và phủ định

Ví dụ:

My mother buys some fruits . (some trong câu khẳng định)

We need some milk for the cakes . (some trong câu khẳng định)

I can’t answer any questions. (any trong câu phủ định)

Do you have any money? (any trong câu hỏi)

ANGEL FALLS
Angel Falls is the highest waterfall in the world. It is located in the lonely jungles of
Venezuela. The best way to get to the falls is by air.
From the top to the bottom, the waterfall is 3,212 feet, over 1,000 feet higher than any other
falls in the world. It looks like a silver thread hanging from the clouds. Visitors can see
spectacular scenery at the falls. Water drops straight down the cliff and tumbles and foams over

The falls were named after Jimmie Angel. He was a pilot and he discovered the falls in 1937.

Denmark - Many Danish people have a very loud traditional way of celebrating the New Year.
