SUBTRACTING WHOLE NUMBERS

Addition and Subtraction are inverse operations. Addition undoes

subtraction, and subtraction undoes addition.

Example: 6 minuend

 1 subtrahend
5 difference

Ways on how to subtract whole number:

a) Deducting lines
Example 1:

Example 2:

b. Giving realistic example and translating it to Mother Tongue

Example 1: 10  2 = ?
Translation: Gintaw-an ikaw ni nanay mo sang pulo ka piso (ten pesos) tapos nagbakal ikaw
sang dolsi duwa ka piso (two pesos), pila nalang bilin sang kwarta mo?
Answer: 8

Example 2: 11  4 = ?
Translation: Kung may ara ka onsi pisos tapos ginhatag mo ang apat ka piso sa imu libayon,
pila nalang bilin sang kwarta mo?
Answer: 7
