IV. PROCEDURE
*Preliminaries:
Good day, everyone. To start our session this morning, I would like to ask _____ to lead the
prayer. I request also______ to check the attendance of your classmate.
Preliminary Activities
*Setting of Class Rules
* Reminders for coping the class
REVIEW
We will play “GUESS WHAT?”.
Mechanics:
1. Each student will receive a dice.
2. Each student will roll the dice.
3. Then after rolling the dice, each student will give the number they got from the dice.
4. After giving the numbers, the numbers will flash on the screen or be written on the
blackboard. Then the teacher will ask the students what the mean, median, and mode

presenting the new 11 Random numbers from rolling the dice: 1,4, 5, 5, 6,3,5, 2, 5, 5, 1
lesson/Motivation (It depends on how many students attend the class.)
Questions:
1. Can you still find the mean, median and mode if the data is large or if the data is
presented in a frequency distribution table?
2. What is frequency distribution table or a grouped data mean?
it is sorted into categories, classified, or otherwise grouped. It is replaced with statistics for the
group.
Find the mean, median and mode of the distribution.

60 - 69 11
50 - 59 12
40 - 49 9
30 - 39 8
20 - 29 5
The data shows the ages of first 55 confirmed Covid-19 Cases Tested in the Philippines.
Class mark is the mid value of the class interval. It can be solved by adding the lower-class limit
and upper-class limit and divided by 2.
Solution: X =
∑ fX
N
=
X =53.41
The mean is 53.41
Median of Grouped Data
To solve for the median of grouped data, use the formula
Frequency Distribution of the Ages of the first 55 confirmed Covid-19 Patient in the Philippines
Solution:
Add two columns for lower boundary and less than cumulative frequency.
To get the lower boundary, subtract 0.5 from the lower limit score of each class interval.
In class interval 80-89: 80 – 0.5 = 79.5
To get the less than cumulative frequency, start with the frequency of the lowest class
interval, then add the frequency of the next higher class interval.
Choose the class interval where 27.5 is contained by looking at the less than cumulative
frequency. Since the 23rd-34th scores belong to the class interval 50-59, then the 27.5th
score is also within the said class interval.
Mode of Grouped Data
To solve for the mode of grouped data, use the formula:
Solution:
The class interval 50 – 59 is the modal class because it has the greatest number of
frequencies.
𝐿𝐵𝑚𝑜 = 49.5
𝑑1 = 12 – 9 = 3
𝑑2 = 12 – 11 = 1

Ungrouped data is the data you first gather from an experiment or study. The data is raw — that is, it’s not sorted into
categories, classified, or otherwise grouped. An ungrouped set of data is basically a list of numbers
When you have a frequency table or other group of data, the original set of data is lost — replaced with statistics for
the group. You can’t find the exact sample mean (as you don’t have the original data) but you can find an estimate.
The formula for estimating the sample mean for data that has been grouped is:
