Group 1
Filtration
Materials:
*Two Jars(like mayonnaise or jam jars)
* Filter Paper
*Rubber Band

Semester Region III
Learning Area Science Teaching Dates

*water
*Garden Soil
*Plastic Spoon
Procedures:
1. Get two jars.
2. Cover one of the jars with filter
paper and secure it with a rubber
band.
3. Get the other jar and fill it
halfway with water. Add
approximately a spoonful of
garden soil and stir it until it
becomes muddy.
4. Slowly poor the muddy water
into the jar with filter paper.
5. Observe the water passes
through the filter paper.
Questions:
1. What does the muddy water
represent?
2. What does the filtered water
represent?
Group 2
Sieving
Materials:
*Strainer
*Flour
*Plastic Container
*Plate
*Plastic Spoon
Procedures:
1. Take 10 spoon of flour into
plastic container.
2. Now take a strainer and poor the
flour into it.
3. Place a clear plate under the
strainer.
4. Then steer the flour.
5. Observe the sifted flour on the
plate.
Questions: Yes, Teacher!
1. What you observe the flour after
you sieve it? Group 1
2. Did anything change in the flour
after you sifted it? If yes what is
it?
Answer:

Are you done class?

Okay, group 1 you can now present

your activity.
1. The muddy water represents what
seems less clear or less easy to
understand.
2. The filtered water represents a
solution it is greener option than
bottled water and tastes better than
tap water.

Yes, Teacher!
Very Good! Group 1, How about the Group 2
second group? Are you ready?

Answer the question

1. What we observed in the flour
after we sieved it was that the large
particles of flour were left in the
strainer.
2. Yes, something changed in the flour
after we sieve it. It is that the flour has
become clearer because when we shake
the mixture the smaller particles go
through the strainer leaving the larger
particles in the plate.
Very Good! Group 2. All group have a
successful performance, so I’ll give
100% per group give an excellent clap.
