Interview 2:

This interview was conducted with Jehaan Engineer, one of my classmates in the tenth grade. He is 15
years old, and a leader in my school, St. Mary’s ICSE. He agreed to all the permissions about the
interview, and then I asked the questions according to the list, and he answered all of them from the
perspective of his grandparent.

To my first question, he said that although he respected his grandparents as much as he could, he felt
that grandparents in general were severely disrespected, as done by putting them in old aged homes, or
leaving them after becoming successful

At the second question, he said that the grandparents should be the head of the family, something most
families don’t even consider, and said that it was a big problem, as the grandparent had single handedly
created this family, so they should receive nothing less.

On the third question, he said that his grandparents were more modern, and didn’t really stick to daily
rituals, instead looking to make the most of each day, with their loved ones.

The 4th question was not much he could reply to, but he did say that his grandfather had one of the best
childhoods, as played everyday, without the worrying of school. He also went on to become really
successful, something people yet don’t believe to be possible

At the last question, he said that the government could probably do a lot more for the elderly, but
choose to focus on the future of india, rather than its present.

I thanked him for his insights, at last saying that grandparents were an integral part of his life, and he
couldn’t imagine his life without them.
