AIM

To assemble a household circuit comprising of three bulbs, three

(on-off) switches, a fuse and a power source..
APPARATUS REQUIRED
Three bulbs (each of 5 V 1 W) fuse of 0.6
A, power source of 10 V with tapping of 4V, 6V, 8V, main switch and
connecting wires.

PRINCIPLE
For household activities in India it
requires 220 V 50 Hz mains supply with current rating of 5A (15A for heavy
loads like A.C. refrigerations, etc.). All the
connected in series.
appliances are always connected in parallel to the main supply, while FUSE is

The total power consumed is the sum of individual power

consumed by each appliance.

PROCEDURE
1. Connect bulbs B], B2, B3, with switches S1, S2, S3.
2. Connect the bulbs -switch sets in series in parallel with each
other.
3. Connect the fuse in series with the power source as shows in
fig. 1.
4. Check the circuit again before you start the experiment.
Testing of fuse: If bulbs are of (5 V 1.0 W) each then current
drawnwill be:
1.0 0.2A.

Source
For 3 bulbs total current drawn should not exceed 0.6 A. Main
