CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter focuses on the explanation of the research techniques and methods

used by the researcher to methodically address the issues raised for inquiry.

Particularly, the Research Design, Research Instrument, Research Locale,

Respondents, Data Collection and Statistical Treatment of Data.

Research Design

In this study, descriptive design was adopted. Descriptive research is the best

method for verifying results because it depicts, explains, and the best way to convey the

details and qualities of the subject under investigation. After creative study, description

groups the findings to fit them with interpretations, which are then verified or evaluated

(Bickman and Rog, 2002).

Research Instrument

As for the gathering of data needed in this study, survey questionnaires were used

to ascertain the effectiveness of business and managerial skills towards aspiring

entrepreneurs among Accountancy, Business, and Management Strand (ABM) students

of General MacArthur National Agricultural School (GMNAS). A total of twenty (20)

questions were allotted to the respondents to test whether how effective is business and

managerial skills to them who aspire of becoming entrepreneurs.

Research Locale

The selected respondents were interviewed in their respective classrooms in

General MacArthur National Agricultural School (GMNAS) located at Barangay

Aguinaldo, General MacArthur, Eastern Samar.

Respondents

The respondents of this study are all grade 11 and grade 12 students of General

MacArthur National Agricultural School (GMNAS) who are taking up the Accountancy,

Business, and Management Strand. There were seven (7) respondents for grade 11

and sixteen (16) for grade 12, having a total of twenty-three (23) students respectively.

Data Gathering Procedure

Upon the approval of the research instrument, multiple copies were created to

cover the total number of respondents. The researchers then, formally wrote a letter to

the principal of Gen. MacArthur National Agricultural School (GMNAS) in Gen.

MacArthur, Eastern Samar, Mrs. Obdulia N. Quiminales PhD asking for her permission
to conduct the study or facilitate the research instrument or questionnaire face-to-face

as well as the students and class advisers in the respective school.

The letter of request and copies of questionnaire was delivered personally by the

researchers to the principal and to the respondents. Right after the delivering the copies

of the letter and of the questionnaires, the researchers then explained to the

respondents the details on how to accomplish the questionnaires immediately. The

questionnaires together with the answers of the respondents was retrieved on the same

day they were given.

After the retrieval, the results of the questionnaires was tabulated. Then, the data

collected was analyzed and expounded through the use of the most suitable statistical

procedure.

Statistical Treatment of Data

Upon the retrieval of the survey questionnaires, the data collected was analyzed

and grouped accordingly. The data was then tabulated and organized to get meaningful

results. Statistical treatments were utilized such as means, percentage, and frequency

counts to achieve a clear interpretation of the data and credible results based on

numerical depictions.
