CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter consists of detailed description of the place and respondents of the

study, data collection, research design, research instrument, data gathering procedure and

methods of statistical analysis.

Research Design

This study utilized the descriptive. Descriptive research is concerned with the

conditions of the relationship that exist and practices that prevail. (David, 2002)

Locale of the Study

The Balijuagan National High School was the place of the study. This study was

conducted during the second semester of academic year 2023 - 2024.

Respondents of the Study

questionnaire will be composed of two (2) parts. Part I, sought to find out the socio-

demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex and estimated monthly family

income. Part II, aims to determine the acceptability of Mandatory ROTC as perceived by

Director, through written request, o conduct a study. After the permission is granted, the

researchers will personally distribute the questionnaires and explain the objectives of the

study to the respondents. Accomplished questionnaire will immediately and personally

collected by the researchers to ensure one hundred percent retrieval.

Interpretation of Data

Scoring of Items

To facilitate the analysis of the data, each item will be scored using the following

guide.

Score Response Category

5 Highly Acceptable

4 Acceptable

3 Fairly Acceptable

2 Less Acceptable

1 Not Acceptable

11
To interpret the following mean interval and verbal interpretation this will be used

as guide.

Mean- Interval Verbal Interpretation

4.20- 5.0 Highly Acceptable

3.40- 4.19 Acceptable

2.60- 3.39 Fairly Acceptable

1.80- 2.59 Less Acceptable

1.00- 1.79 Not Acceptable

Statistical Tool

Data will be analyzed using the following statistical tools. Percentage will

be used to determine the profile of the respondents.

The Percentage will be defined by the formula (Pagoso, 2000).

Where:

P = Pecentage

F = Frequency

N = Total Number of Respondents

Mean will be used to determine the average age, and the level of acceptability of

Mandatory ROTC as perceived by the Grade 10 Students of Balijuagan National High

School.

The Formula for mean will be adopted from Downie and Heath. (1984)

Ʃx
x=
N

12
Where X = mean

Ʃx = sum of scores
