How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the students going
to school? What are your conclusions?

The students will be encouraged to go to school if various resources are available that they can use
to enhance and nurture their knowledge. Think about a classroom with no boards, will the teaching
and learning function well? Although it is possible to use different materials, boards are essential in
teaching mathematics for the teacher and students to improve their ability to solve mathematical
problems. Furthermore, they must feel secure when they enter the school grounds because no
parents let their children be administered in an unsafety and unsecure school. The ability to
concentrate on their studies and learn more will result from a conducive learning environment in
the classroom as opposed to one where students' safety and security are uncertain.

How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development? How does this relate to
your knowledge of facilitating learning?

Every child develops at a different rate; therefore, classrooms should be appropriate for their age,
aptitude, and learning styles given that this has an impact on how they develop as individuals.
Schools should be suitable for learning and interpersonal interactions among their grade levels and
peers. In another way, schools must help students develop their cognitive, emotional, behavioral,
and social skills. The school means to create a learner’s environment which is convenient, desirable,
promote positive behavior, and is secure and safe.

Read the following carefully before you observe.

1. How many board displays do you see in your resource class?

7 – Narra: 2 display boards
7 – Molave: 4 display boards
7 – Mahogany: 4 display boards
8 – Sampaguita: 3 display boards
8 – Ilang – ilang: None
8 – Rose: 1 display board
2. Where are the displays boards found? Are they in places where target viewers
can see them?
7 – Narra: Yes. Display boards are located at the back of the classroom, opposite
direction from the chalkboard so that students will not be destructed during class
7 – Molave: One display board is located at the left side wall (centered) of the
classroom, one display board located at the side of the door, and the other two are
located at the right-side wall of the classroom near the chalkboard. I think all the display
boards are in an appropriate place since the display board near the chalkboards serves
as the announcement section.
7 – Mahogany: Display boards are located at the back of the classroom, opposite
direction from the chalkboard so that students will not be destructed during class
8 – Sampaguita: The main bulletin board is located at the right side of the monitor while
the other two is located at the opposite sides of the room (centered).
8 – Ilang – ilang: None
8 – Rose: The display board is located at the left side wall of the classroom near the
chalkboard.
3. What are the displays about? What key messages do they convey? What
images and colors do you see? How are the pieces of information and images
arranged?
7 – Narra: Displays contains the following sections: Announcement, Class schedule,
Class officers, Class Achievements, and Read Me sections which contains the safety
guidelines of the students like fire drill and the must do due to Covid-19.
7 – Molave: Two of their display boards serves as announcement, the other one shows
the safety guidelines of the students to follow, while the other one doesn’t have any
content.
7 – Mahogany: One of the bulletin boards is about the proper grooming of toenails and
the other one is carpentry tools since the adviser of Mahogany is teaching TLE. The
other one displayed the safety guidelines of the students to follow, while the last one
doesn’t have any content at all.
8 – Sampaguita: The main bulletin and the display board at the left side of the monitor
shows the safety guidelines of the students to follow and the other display board at the
right side of the monitor displayed the “Mga Obrang Pilipino” since their adviser is
teaching Filipino.
8 – Ilang – ilang: None
8 – Rose: The display boards show the safety guidelines of the students to follow which
contains the safety guidelines of the students like fire drill and the must do due to
Covid-19.
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
Most of the materials used are the following:
1. Printed materials
2. Construction papers
3. Laminated printed materials (Read Me)
4. Painted images
5. Do you notice some errors? (Misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and
the like)
As far as I observed, I haven’t noticed any errors displayed on the bulletin boards
except my doubt in the painted image of toenails in Mahogany.

6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?

Yes, since the boards displays are divided into sections or being categorized by the
assigned adviser, the messages are clear and concise in which you will easily
understand what are written within those sections.
7. Think about what got your attention. Why did it get your attention?

The display boards of 7 – Narra are plain. When you will enter their room, you will
not be recognized that it is a Mathematics room. The toenails display board in
Mahogany also got my attention because painted image, I don’t know if its just me,
but I think there is an error in painting it.
8. Take photos of the display boards (if allowed).

What do you think was the purpose of the board display?

The purpose of having a board display inside the classroom are to inform, instructs, and

motivate students. It also serves as a decoration in your classroom in a way that you will
notice if it is a Mathematics classroom, science classroom, etc. as it shows graphics with
relevance to their adviser’s specialization.

Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target audience? Why? Why not?

Board display design should reflect the likes/interest of its target audience because what
would be the purpose of your bulletin board if your students are not interested in it? Then,
why prepare a bulletin board at all. Since, this is a month of November, I prepared a board
display with related to Halloween and a challenge section related to operations on integers.
This will get the attention of your students since they want to challenge themselves and it
will make them curious about the challenge since it has a twist or a touch of Halloween
theme. On the other hand, they admired the layout display of December since they will be
able to find their name in it. Grade 7 wants to feel the belongingness in their section.

Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why? Why not?

Yes. The used of simple English language was used to deliver a clear and understandable
message. The board display that I saw during my observation are safety protocol for the
students, class schedule, classroom officers, etc. which are easy to understand of what it
pertains to. When I design the bulletin boards in Narra with a theme Halloween since it’s
the month of November, I used words related to Halloween like Spooky.

Was the board display effective? Why? Why not?

Yes. I think board display is effective in a way that the students will be informed. For
instance, if the students are hardly remembering their classroom schedule, he/she can just
see it in their bulletin boards. On the other hand, my display board was also effective as
students participated on the Spooky Challenge that I have prepared. They are also
interested on the design that I have created and feel belong to their section 7 – Narra.

What suggestions can you make?

I think the board display in Narra needs improvement where it should be known as
Mathematics classroom. In Mahogany, since one of the bulletin boards doesn’t have any
display materials, I think they should put some in it. In Molave, I think they should also put
some materials in one of their bulletin boards. In Grade 8 Sampaguita, their bulletin board
near the monitor needs improvement like arrange it accordingly. In Ilang – ilang, I think they
should have at least one bulletin board. Lastly, in Rose, no comment.
