M PROJECT 1.0 Purpose The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the details used and controls to be carried out for the Epoxy coating for “Fire Fighting water Pipes & Fittings” ensure that it complies with Project requirements, specifications (09 9100) and standards. 2.0 Scope of Work This Method Statement is applicable to Epoxy coating for “Fire Fighting water Pipes & Fittings” at Doha Convention Centre & Tower Project. He shall document such inspections. 77 QAQC Engineer / Inspector shall monitor the installation activities progressively and shall record all deviation from specification in a form of snags or further as non-conformance not 8.0 Material Inspection / Storage 1 All materials and/or equipments received or purchased shall be inspected and approved by Supervision Consultant before using on site. 8.2 Materials shall be stored in a safe, secured and tidy manner in appropriate condition to prevent deterioration or damage. 8.3 All the paint material shall be stored in enclosed/ protected and well ventilated place according to manufacturer's recommendation [as given in the product technical and safety data sheets} 8.4 The date of manufacturing shall be clearly marked on each paint container and paints that have exceeded their shelf life shall be discarded. ‘Method Statement ~ Epoxy coating for "Fre Fighting pes & Fittirgs" DOCUMENT NUMBER: ED-G-M-G-A-GN-0002-00 Page 5 @Psixconsuct | DOHA CONVENTION aaa | CENTER &TOWER ‘MEP ZONTRACTORS - DORA CONVENTION CENTER u PROJECT ; 9.0 Construction Sequence and Methodology 9.1 Preparation before Painting 9.1.1 Paints that shows the signs of leakage or have gelled shall be discarded; any skins that have formed shall be cut and removed before application. 9.1.2 All paints shall be thoroughly mixed before application; quantities over 5 liters/2 pack paints shall be mixed using a power mixer. 9.2 Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted according to the manufacturer's instructions for each particular substrate condition and as specified. I.e. Sand Blast as per the Method Statement Reference: ED-G-M-G- A-GN-0003. 9.2.1 Protection Prior to Painting "Prior to start painting area shall be covered with appropriate net to arrest the dust and_ paint spillages on nearby area and equipments shall be masked properly to avoid any damages by painting. 9.3. Painting System or Specification for Fire Fighting Water Pipes 9.3.1 External: (Fire Fighting Water Pipes) = Grit Blast to SA2.5. = Apply one coat of sigma cover 280 to DFT of 50 microns. * Apply finish coat to sigmadur 520 to DFT of 100 microns (50 microns x 2 coats). a 9.4 Painting Procedures 9.4.1 Fire Fighting Water Pipes & Fittings We confirm our compliance to the manufacturer’s detailed applications | procedure. * Prior to any coating application the ambient weather conditions will be measured. Wet film thickness will be continuously checked using Elcometer Wet Film Combination by the painter and monitored by Site Supervisor. It will ensure to achieve the required DFT for the specitied primer coat. * DFT reading as frequent as advised by the Contractor/ Client QC will be taken by the Site Supervisor and pattern will be in accordance with the attached "80-20" rule for the average DFT measurement. "DFT readings will be taken by an acceptable DFT gauge (correctly calibrated for the specified thickness) and the readings for the each coat will be recorded. "Application of primer to the DFT of SOmicrons as per manufacturer recommendations (External Coating). "Application of Top Coat (in 2 Coats) to the DFT of 50 microns (External Coating) = Repairs shall be in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation or as specified in the Project specification after dient’s approval. = A inal inspection will be carried out to ensure that average total DFT of the system has been achieved and surface is free from visible coating defects. * Paint materials to be used as per manufacturer recommendations. 10.0 Inspection and Testing 10.1 After completion of the work, the Site Engineer’s who perform an activity are required to raise an RFIA with complete information regarding the scope of inspection, including Test Report & necessary drawings highlighted to show the scope of inspection. He shall systematically check and inspect their work.
