ESSAY: (5Pts.)
Discuss briefly the term motivation in relation to Human behavior and
how it differs from desire and drive.

Motivation in relation to human behavior is the process that initiates, guides,

and maintains goal-oriented behaviors, and it is what causes you to act. It involves
the biological, emotional, social, and cognitive forces that activate behavior
Sometimes the motivation, or willingness to do something, comes as a
personal desire, and other times you may want to do it for the good of someone else.
It's the starting point for wanting to accomplish that goal. Drive essentially is what will
keep moving you forward when there's a dip in motivation.

Essay: (10 Pts. Each)

Discuss the three component of personality by providing a concrete

sample.

The id, ego and superego work together to create human behavior. It is

combined to create the complex behavior of human beings. The id creates the
demands, the ego adds the needs of reality, and the superego adds morality to the
action which is taken. Just for examples the Id, in line at the salad bar, Angie was so
hungry that she shoved a handful of croutons in her mouth as she waited for the line
to move, the Ego, May really wanted to borrow her mom's necklace, but knew her
mom would be angry if she took it without asking, so she asked her mom if she could
wear it, and the Superego, Jane knew she could steal the supplies from work and no
one would know about it. However, she knew that stealing was wrong, so she
decided not to take anything even though she would probably never get caught.

assumes that individual development is predominantly a product of cultural
