My grandfather, Vinay Pathak, lived in Kurla where he attended school alongside his 3 other

brothers. The school life my grandfather experienced was rather similar to ours. The only
exception was that they were given little or no homework. Back then, discipline played an
important role in education for all; teachers in his school were strict when it came to discipline
(basic manners, uniforms, or normal etiquette) and studies. However, the teachers were also
caring, loving, and ready to help. It seems, just like us, they were motivated to do better in newly
introduced subjects like typewriting or double-entry book-keeping, than wanting to score better
in math or languages. Extra-curriculars were a gift to them and sometimes a fun way of
punishing them too. Furthermore, my grandfather enjoyed going to school because of the
quality time he would get to spend with his friends. Moreover, he made way for his bookworm
self in the huge library the school offered and also spend most of this time acting because of his
love for drama. While my grandfather believes that a lot of things have changed in today's
schools, however, there is minimal difference between their school life and ours.
