because we are facing the Pandemic of Covid-19, don’t forget to wash
properly your hands, wear your facemask and face shield and also
observed social distancing.
Teacher: Our new lesson for today is all about Perpendicular, Parallel
and Intersecting lines
Greetings

We are already in Third Quarter of Mathematics 3 Lesson 65 Week 6.

Before we continue let us read first our objectives

Objectives:
1. Recognize perpendicular lines, parallel lines and intersecting lines
2. Determine whether the given lines are parallel, intersecting or
perpendicular.
3. Identify parallel, perpendicular and intersecting lines in the given
pictures.

Teacher: Let us review first our previous lesson

Study the pairs of line segments.

A B E F

C D G H

Which line segments are congruent? Why?

Answer: Line AB and Line CD, because the length are equal

I will give you an activity for you to sharpen your mind.

TEACHING/MODELING – “I do it”
(5 – 15 minutes)
Motivation
Look at the picture below
Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly to power point.)

Teacher: What can you see in the picture?

How do you describe the fence?
What can you say about the arrangement of the fence?

Look at the fence. It is composed of horizontal and vertical lines. Can you
identify them? This is how we can represent the fence.

LINE A
Horizontal Lines
LINE B

LINE C LINE D
Vertical Lines
Teacher: What is formed when the horizontal and vertical lines meet? (square)
What kind of line is represented, when horizontal and vertical lines
meet and form a square? (Perpendicular line)
Remember: Perpendicular lines form square corner
Teacher: Look at Line A and Line B.

Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly to power point.)

What do we call these lines?

Teacher: Now, look at Line C and Line D.
Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly to power point.)

How do we call these lines?

How do you describe the vertical
lines and horizontal lines?

Teacher: If we are going to extend the horizontal lines and vertical lines, do
you think they will meet at a certain point? Why?
Pupils: (No, because parallel lines are lines that do not meet).
Teacher: Very Good!
Remember: Parallel lines are lines that do not meet
Parallel lines composed of two lines are necessarily of the same length
The symbol // indicates parallel lines
Teacher: Now study the two lines below.
Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly to power point.)

What can you say about Lines A and C?

Where did they meet?

Teacher: These lines are called perpendicular lines.

Perpendicular lines intersect and form four right angles

Teacher: What if the lines are formed as illustrated below?
Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly to power point.)

Ask: What have you noticed?

Teacher: Do the lines form perpendicular lines? Why?
Pupils: NO, because lines intersect are not form right angles
Teacher: These lines are called intersecting lines. Why do you think are they
called intersecting lines?
Answer: Intersecting lines meet at a common point but they do not
necessarily form 90 degrees.

GUIDED PRACTICE – “We do it”

(1 – 10 minutes)
Teacher: Study the figures below.
Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly to power point.)

1) Describe the lines in Figure A.

Pupils: Parallel lines

Teacher: Very good children! You listen to your teacher well.
2) Describe the lines in Figure B.
Teacher: What do we call these lines?
Pupils: Perpendicular lines
Teacher: Well done children!
3) Describe the lines in Figure C.
Teacher: What do we call these lines?
Pupils: Intersecting lines
Teacher: Good job! I’m glad to know that you are very attentive during our
online discussion.

Let’s have a practice to enhance your minds. Study Activity 1

Ppt. Sneak in the voice over (it appears slowly

to power point)

LK and CD, HG and AB

Teachers: You know already how to identify the lines in the figure that
fall under the given classifications?
Pupils: Yes teacher, thank you for your informative explanations.
Teacher: Well, very good! It’s nice to hear your positive response.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE – “You do it”
Let’s apply to new and other Situations
