CHAPTER THREE

3.0 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

3.1 Study Design

The experimental design is designed for the Catering Establishment in which are made up
of 200 respondents to treat the 20 questionnaire prepared by the researcher.

3.2 Population Study

The population study is focused on the Catering Establioshment selling foods in Idah,
Idah Local Government Area, Kogi State. Idah is a town in Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria. It
lies on a sandstone cliff on the east bank of the Niger River. The traditional capital of the Igala
people, Idah was brought under the jurisdiction of the kingdom of Benin by Oba (King) Esigie in
the early 16th century. Roads from the town lead to Nsukka and Ayangba, and there is ferry
service to Agenebode across the Niger River.

3.3 Sample Size and Sampling Techniques

The sample used will be selected at random among the Catering Establishment. The
questionnaires were 300 copies are tried upon the Catering Establishment and Community of
which 200 Copies were retrieved from the correspondences and 100 copies were invalid.

3.4 Instrument Design

The instruments design shall be;- Personal Observation, oral interview, Questionnaire,
Review of related literature e.t.c
3.5 Method of Validating Instrument

The instrument and validity used was confirmed via the following;-
3.5.1 Pre Test

The study distributed few questionnaire to its clients and project supervisor and they
confirmed the instrument used.

3.5.2 Test

The study applied the questionnaires samples required for the study area to evaluate and
produce results.

3.5.3 Retest

The study compared the information gotten from similar source to ascertain the validity of
the questionnaire used.

3.6 Administration Of The Instrument

Copies of the questionnaires will be sent to the respondent, instructions guiding the filling
of the instrument were explained to them. The study supervises the filling, and aftermath, collect
from the respondents on the spot the reports received from them.

3. 7 Methods of Data Colletion

The Research study made use of both the primary and secondary methods of data collection
from reliable sources.

3.8 Metods of Data Analysis

The data collected through the various research methods mentioned above will be analyzed
by Percentages techniques for more interpretations of the data obtained in the course of the
study.

3.9 Limitations of the Study

In the course of the study, a lot of constraints affected the research findings and here are the
limitations below;-
 lack of awareness about the poor nutrition
 traditional and cultural barriers
 religious barriers
 political barriers
 financial barriers
 communication barriers
